Waterfront and Al Kharaej Residential Precincts, Lusail City, State of Qatar PROJECT: Providing Landscape Project Design Management services for the Waterfront Residential and Al Kharaej Residential Precinct within the overall Masterplan of the new Lusail City Phase 2.

In total when fully developed, Lusail City covers 15 square kilometers of land to the north of Doha and will house a population of 200,000 residents (rising to 450,000 working, and visiting) in low medium and high rise districts, supported by commercial, retail and recreation.

The Waterfront and Al Kharaej Residential Precincts included hard and soft streetscape landscape works, pocket parks, waterfront promenades, semi private beaches, recreational facilities (playgrounds, skate park) along with water features, shade structures and public amenity kiosks.

Fox Hills Streetscapes, Lusail City, State of Qatar PROJECT: Providing Landscape Project Management services during the construction phase of the Fox Hills Precinct Streetscapes within the overall Masterplan of the new Lusail City Phase 2, which covers 15 square kilometers of land to the north of Doha.

In total when fully developed, Lusail City will house a population of 200,000 residents (rising to 450,000 working, and visiting) in low medium and high rise districts, supported by commercial, retail and recreation

Jurien Bay New Town Centre Jurien Bay, WA PROJECT: Main street redevelopment for the Town

Centre of Jurien Bay which extended to the design of

a staged town entry experience from both the

northern and southern town entries.

The Master Plan included the siting of town entry

visitor bays, revision of the town centre traffic

movement patterns with improved on-street parking

facilities for long vehicles within the town centre

proper, the inclusion of a dual use bicycle / pedestrian

pathway linking the north and south limits of the town

through the town centre, the design of town centre

entry point landscapes plus the implementation of

coordinated street furniture, pavement and soft

landscape works along the streetscape.

Robinson St Upgrade, Carnarvon, WA PROJECT: Streetscape Redevelopment of the Town Centre including revising traffic flow, revising town centre overland flow drainage, improved pedestrian circulation, new hard landscape works and soft landscape works.

The implemented design for the main street redevelopment was able to meet the clients requirements for increasing the available number of town centre vehicle parking spaces, improving the cross town circulation ability for the elderly and mobility impaired, redesign of the town centre overland flow pathway to eliminate recurrent town centre flooding, and implemented a street tree planting design that provided amenity and improved streetscape aesthetics. Existing un-suitable street trees were transplanted to other locations throughout the town.

Bremer Bay New Town Centre Bremer Bay, WA PROJECT: Master Plan development for the new

town centre of Bremer Bay.

Master Plan included land use planning for mixed

residential / commercial use plus aged care and civic

uses, resolution of road pattern including connectivity

to the existing adjacent urban development patterns,

on street and off street parking for single vehicles plus

vehicles towing trailers, resolution of overland flow

patterns, retention of existing remnant natural

vegetation, design of the pedestrian circulation

systems and connections to minimise vehicular

conflicts and the development of hard and soft

materials palettes based on local themes.

Shekou World Plaza, Shenzhen, PRC PROJECT: Urban Plaza Development in the heart of

the restaurant and entertainment district of Shekou.

The plaza design allowed for al fresco dining

opportunities for the restaurants and cafes at the plaza

level, while trees and mass planting beds provided

both amenity and delineation between the al fresco

dining corridors and the central plaza space. The

central plaza space allows for public performances

plus market stalls on weekends and public holidays.

The Entrance Town Centre Upgrade, The Entrance, NSW PROJECT: The redevelopment of the main street and pedstrian waterfront precinct for a major tourist centre located on the scenic Central Coast of NSW north of Sydney.

The town centre upgrade included revisions to traffic flow directions and revised carparking, new pedestrian pavements in both the streets and waterfront plaza, street and pedestrian precinct lighting, water features and water playgrounds, timber decks, shade structures, all street furniture, retention of existing significant trees in the plaza, new streetscape planting design and new public plaza planting design including shade trees, feature trees plus shrubs and groundcovers along with a revised irrigation system network.

Mindil Beach Markets, Darwin, NT PROJECT: Design for the upgrade of a major Dry

Season Open Air Market in the tropical city of Darwin.

Located adjacent tot he main beach of Fannie Bay the

markets are a major tourist attraction during the

pleasant Dry Season evenings.

The redesign included revisions to traffic flow

directions and revised carparking, new pedestrian

pavements in both the hot food market precinct and

arts – crafts precinct, all street furniture, foredune

protective measure works including defining of beach

access locations, retention of existing significant trees,

new planting design including shade trees, feature

trees plus shrubs and groundcovers along with a

revised irrigation system network.

Level 21 Raine Square, Perth, WA PROJECT: Landscape design and installation to a

balcony on the 21st Floor of a Office Tower in Perth

CBD.

With all building works being completed prior to the

installation of the Balcony Landscape, the design

solution required a modular design with all elements

prefabricated off-site and designed to fit in the

Buildings Service Elevator.

The off site pre-fabricating of all the decking elements,

pergola elements plus seating and planter boxes

allowed these elements to be installed with the least

amount of noise and disruption to the working offices

located on the floor.

Durrat Al Bahrain, Kingdom of Bahrain PROJECT: A 5 Star Residential Estate located at the

south – eastern end of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Being based on-site allowed for continuous

communication with the client, project management

team and the contractors. The ability to communicate

directly with the contractors allowed for the

implementation of practices and procedures that

improved the quality of the landscape works plus

reduced both the time and cost impacts associated

with the construction of the works.

North Bahrain New Town, Kingdom of Bahrain PROJECT: A new town development of the north-west

coast of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Development was

over 17 reclaimed islands.

Individual landscape design solutions were prepared

for each island based upon the proposed urban design

characteristics plus the proposed land uses within

each island. A continuous waterfront open space

ringed each island with the proposed design varying

from formal promenades and plaza spaces to linear

parks based upon a combination of the islands

engineered design edge and adjacent urban land use.

Road / streetscape hard and soft landscapes were

based on a repetition of a modular design derived from

the road hierarchy and road verge pavement material

selection. Extents and types of softscape materials

used was based upon calculations of available TSE

water and the peak summer water demand for each

plant type.

Portofino, Overseas Chinese Township, Shenzhen, PRC PROJECT: Prestigious mixed high rise and villa

apartment development with retail, restaurant and

entertainment precincts in the heart of the Overseas

Chinese Township in Shenzhen.

Design included streetscape and pedestrian pavement

materials and patterns, club swimming pool, public water

feature design, shade structures, all street furniture, street

and pedestrian precinct lighting, all planting design

including feature trees, street trees, shade trees plus

shrub and groundcovers.

The Landing Resort Hotel, Port Hedland, WA PROJECT: The development of a private

accommodation village for senior mine employees.

Project consists of a five storey hotel building and

three storey accommodation wings set within a

landscape setting of both “public” and “private” spaces.

Wu Ling Yuan International Vacation Hotel, Zhangjiajie, Hunan Province, PRC PROJECT: Five Star Hotel in the scenic Zhangjiajie

Region of Hunan Province.

The combination of a small intimate site with steep

topography required an innovative design approach to

resolve site planning issues relating to guest car and

bus parking arrangements, storm water management

to prevent soil erosion both during and after

construction and the development of aesthetic and

sensitive retaining wall design solutions. The

landscape design solution included the selection and

combining of appropriate plant materials to convey the

grandeur of an International Five Star Resort hotel.

Sydenham Street Park, Beckenham, WA PROJECT: Development of a 4500m2 Public Open

Space within a new residential sub-division. Centre

piece of the Park is the playground facility which relies

on changes in ground plane elevation to provide not

only a setting for the playground equipment, but to

also increase the play experience for the children.

Mills Park Redevelopment, Beckenham, WA PROJECT: Redevelopment of a 29 hectare regional

sports and recreational park including wet land

rehabilitation, re-siting of existing sporting facilities,

Lake Ewlyamartup Recreation Area Katanning, WA PROJECT: Master Plan for the development of a

recreational precinct adjacent to a freshwater lake.

Design included revised access road, car parking areas

for both power boats and sail craft, siting of barbeque

and shade strutures, selection and siting of a self

composting toilet facility plus screen planting to the park

edge with the adjacent farmland and rehabilitation of the

lake edge vegetation.

Beresford Beach Coastal Protection and Foreshore Development Geraldton, WA PROJECT: Preparation of a Master Plan which incorporated coastal protection measures to mitigate beach erosion and coastal sand movement patterns combined with foreshore recreational enhancement works along Beresford Beach, Geraldton.

The Master Plan proposed installing uniformly spaced headlands to limit the extents of sand migration. The two southern headlands were designed to be recreational nodes while the two northern headlands, while initially being designed as rock groynes, could be constructed into headlands at a later date. Other elements included in the Master Plan included provision of formalised off road carparking facilities, controlled beach access for both pedestrians and recreational vehicles, shared use pathway linking the northern edge of Beresford Beach to Geraldton Town Centre, informal active and passive recreation areas, locations for small cafe retail outlets and public amenities, overland flow and stormwater management incorporated into the landscape design and additional public bus stops along the fronting main road.

Pyrmont Point Park, Sydney Harbour, NSW PROJECT: A major foreshore park with extensive

boardwalks, large children’s playground set on the

foreshore of Sydney Harbour.

Design included the incorporation of a heritage

boardwalk with the inclusion of new boardwalk links to

the park, playground design, open active space

design, street and pedestrian lighting, all street

furniture, design of safety compliant handrails, street

and park shade tree planting, feature shrub and

groundcover planting and irrigation system network

design.

Ziting Gardens Villa Estate, Ningbo, PRC PROJECT: Villa and Townhouse Development in

Ningbo. Landscape works included streetscape

design, open space network design, community centre

external space design, commercial centre external

design and parks design for a range of park sizes and

uses.

The Site Master Plan allowed for the development of a

number of park styles, from intimate local parks for

small social gatherings of residents, to larger

neighborhood and community parks suitable for larger

community gatherings. All parks were designed to be

obstacle free to allow diversified and comfortable

access by all resident age groups.

Blue Sky, White Cloud Residential Complex Shenzhen, PRC PROJECT: Residential complex consisting of multi-

level residential towers plus multi-storey town houses

constructed over a podium. A Commercial Precinct

was developed at street level fronting the

streetscapes. The large internal podium level

courtyard incorporated active and passive recreational

facilities for the use of residents and their guests.

“Apartments 1” and “The Refinery”, Cutters Landing Brisbane, QLD PROJECT: High Rise Residential Development on the

banks of the Brisbane River. Landscape development

included public riverfront promenade and boardwalk,

heritage park and streetscape design.

The landscape design required the retention of mature

fig trees located between the Apartment Towers and

the riverfront plus the retention of mature fig trees in

the heritage park located to the landside of the

development.

Attention to the selection of materials and the design

of the landscape interface details resulted in a high

quality built landscape.
