The Growth of a PLN

The BeginningWhen we were creating our PLN’s for

EDU 210, I chose to use Twitter for mine. I had never used this social networking

site before and was eager to learn about it. I found it easy to navigate and liked

Cube For Teachers: -Tweets on a daily basis. -Shares lots of teacher resources, technological tools and educational information. -This is a great link for me to follow because of this. It can help me gain new ideas to implement in my classroom and to keep up to date with technology advances.-Their website is: www.cubeforteachers.com

ISTE: -(International Society for Technology in Education) -Tweets on a daily basis.-Has lots of educational chats that I can participate in to collaborate with other professionals that I normally would not have the chance to. I have not been able to participate in a chat, yet but would like to in the future!-Their website is: www.iste.org

2Learn.ca Society: -Tweets on a regular.-Shares resources, has educational discussions and helps teachers with professional development. -This is a great person for me to follow as a new teacher just starting out because you can connect with other professionals, you can get help from them and they provide some great educational resources.-Their website is: 2learn.ca

Taught It: -Tweets on a regular basis.-It allows different teachers to connect with each other. It is also for file sharing between teachers. -This can support my professional development by not just looking at what other teachers have shared, but also sharing my own resources to find my teaching style. Plus, it can help me become more connected in the educational community.-Their website is: taught.it

Contributions to my PLN:I have contributed to the professional development of my PLN by following only educational people on my PLN. This keeps my PLN professional and separate from anything personal. By following these educational professionals I

have more access to different educational and technological resources that they share. This can help improve my

classroom by incorporating these new resources. I can also share some of my own with them to help develop my own personal teaching style and method. As well, I can have

educational discussions with them in order to make more connections in the community to help develop myself

professionally. I do all of this by sharing through tweets, retweeting and favouriting other people’s tweets and

participating in conversations on Twitter.
