Professional Image Standards and Uniform Guidelines Each flight attendant is identifiable as not only a Mesa Airlines employee but also as a representative of our codeshare partners. Grooming and appearance are an integral part of a flight attendant’s performance, along with safety and service procedures. Flight attendants are required to adhere to the uniform appearance standards, personal hygiene, and components contained in these regulations. Deviations from these guidelines are not permitted. Flight attendants are responsible for their appearance and uniform. Flight attendants who are unable to meet the image guidelines due to a medical situation or sincerely held belief, should contact their Inflight Manager to request an accommodation.

Section 9 - Uniforms
A. A flight attendant will be required to wear a complete uniform as defined in the company
manual or company code share partner uniform policy. Flight attendants will adhere to
the Professional Image Standards and Uniform Guidelines at all times while on duty,
and when traveling to and from hotel accommodations, while on airport premises,
and when commuting to and from work if wearing the company uniform.
B. Uniform Initial Issue
a. After successful completion of training a new hire flight attendant will be required
to purchase a uniform for one airline code share partner consistent with the
minimum uniform requirement list. The flight attendant will pay one hundred
(100%) of the cost, which may be payroll deducted at a maximum rate of $25 per
pay period after the first month of employment.
b. New hire flight attendants will pay for optional uniform items in full upon receipt of
optional items. Optional items may be paid for in cash, lump sum, or by payroll
deduction up to the maximum of three hundred ($300) at the rate of $25 per pay
period after the first month of employment.
c. The company will issue wings based on initial code share or airline assignment for
each flight attendant.

partner policy)

A dress may be substituted for one bottom and one top.
Uniform requirements may be adjusted seasonally and/or by code share partner (i.e., holiday
accents, seasonal changes, or acceptable uniform substitutions). Flight attendants electing to
wear approved substitution and/or seasonally adjusted uniforms will do so in full compliance with
that code share partner’s policies.

General Uniform Appearance Standards:
All uniforms must be black and distributed by Twin Hill
Must be gender appropriate and convey a professional appearance.
Must be in full compliance when in public view, on or off duty, or on a deadhead.
Must fit properly and not appear to be excessively tight or loose.
All nonuniform personal items, including coats and purses, must be packed in uniform
luggage.
Uniform garments may only be worn while on duty, attending Mesa sponsored events, or
work-related commutes.
Uniforms must be clean, wrinklefree, and in good condition. No holes or tears.
May not sleep or give the appearance of sleeping in the cabin while on duty and/or in
uniform.

Teeth should present a clean, natural appearance. Employees must have a full-frontal
complement of teeth. Dental retainers must be gum toned or clear. Braces should be clear
or silver.
Employees will strive to maintain a clean, smooth and clear complexion.
Noticeable hair in nostrils and in/on ears or underarms must be cut or otherwise removed.
Eyebrows must be trimmed.
Appropriate undergarments should be worn to prevent perspiration, staining, or odor from
bleeding through to the outer uniform.
Personal Demeanor:
While in uniform, on or off duty, you may not purchase or consume alcoholic beverages, sit
at a bar, including for the purpose of consuming food.
Avoid using or displaying any form of tobacco product including electronic cigarettes, vapor
or water-based cigarettes unless using designated airport smoking areas.
While on duty or onboard an aircraft with customers, refrain from use of personal electronic
devices (cellphones, headphones, smart watches, etc.)
Avoid use of chewing gum while in uniform and in customer view.

Guidelines for Company Issued Uniform Items:
These items are only compliant if they are company issued or approved by the
uniform coordinator or management.
Codeshare Specific
For both United Express and American Eagle, an outer garment (blazer, sweater, or vest) must be worn at all times when wearing the shirt/blouse, except during service.
United apron must be worn for service.
Alterations:
If the Flight Attendant cannot obtain uniform pieces that fit, the Flight Attendant may have uniform
pieces professionally altered. The Flight Attendant must get approval from Inflight Management
prior to alterations being made to uniform pieces. The Company will pay fifty percent (50%) of
alterations upon submission of valid receipts. The reimbursement does not apply to hemming of
skirts, pants or dresses. If the Company directs a Flight Attendant to alter a uniform piece, the
Company will pay one hundred percent (100%) of the cost upon submission of valid receipts.
Alterations cannot alter the basic design or deface the garment and must meet all uniform
wearing standards.
Blouses/Dress Shirts
Vest
Dress/Skirt
Hem must be worn no higher than two inches above the crease of the back of the knee and no longer than one inch below the crease of the back of the knee.
Blazer/Cardigan/Male Sweater
Does not have to be buttoned.
May not be worn around the waist or draped over or across shoulders.
Must be worn with company issued shirt and neckwear.
Blazer sleeves may not be rolled up.
Male sweater may not be worn tucked in.
Dress Slacks
Belt
Required with all garments that have belt loops.
Suspenders are prohibited.

Guidelines for Non-Company Issued Garments:
These items are not company issued but must follow the specific guidelines to be
approved.
All Weather Coat/Pea Coat
Flight attendants may purchase their own black coat or pea-coat which follow these approved guidelines:
• Must be all black
• Coat may not have a hood, fur or other embellishments besides buttons.
• Puffy coats or down coats are not permitted.
Must be removed once aircraft door is closed.
Undergarments/Hosiery/Socks
Hosiery and appropriate undergarments must be worn at all times while in uniform.
Undergarments may not be visible through the outer uniform.
Hosiery may be sheer or opaque and must be seamless and without pattern or texture.
Hosiery is limited to black or skin tones (including support hose).
Thigh high hose are not allowed with dress or skirt.
Trouser socks must be plain black and cannot allow skin to show.
Footwear
Entire shoe must be smooth, polished leather, simulated leather, or patent leather.
o No cloth, or suede.
The entire shoe, including heel, must be black.
o Shoe may have stitching, provided that it is black.
Must have closed heel, side, and toe.
Must be simple and unadorned (bows are not permitted).
One strap or buckle is acceptable but not to exceed 1 inch in width.
o T-strap is not acceptable.
Shoe must give the appearance of a separate heel.
Loafers and Dansko style shoes are permitted with dress slacks only.
Ankle boots may be worn year around with the pants only.
Shoes should never be changed in the view of passengers.
Footwear Female Specific: Footwear Male Specific:
Must be slip-ons only, no laces. Black dress slip-ons, lace up style,

Luggage:
Inflight Shoe
It is recommended that flight attendants change from higher heeled shoes to lower
heeled shoes prior to inflight service.
Inflight shoes may not be worn off the aircraft.
Inflight shoes must be solid black leather.
Slippers and ballet flats are not acceptable.
Must have a minimum of a ¼ inch heel.
Boots
Boots may be worn November 1st – February 28th to and from the aircraft only. Once
on the aircraft, and prior to passenger boarding, boots must be removed and replaced
with compliant shoes.
Must be knee-length height with dress or skirt. Over the knee boots are prohibited.
Ankle boots may be worn with pants.
Boots must be plain black leather and unadorned.
UGG, rain boots, military, or cowboy boots are not permitted to be worn.
Heel height for boots must be ¾ inch to 3 inches.
Luggage
All luggage/handbags/coolers must be plain black, unadorned with no
design/decoration. (United Bonus Bucks Cooler is Approved on UAX)
No more than three bags can be carried while on duty; (Refer to Carry-On Baggage
Manual).
Roller board dimensions may not exceed 22 inches maximum height, 8 inches
maximum depth.
Decals, stickers, logos, patterns or stuffed animals are not authorized on any luggage.
o Note: a flight attendant may place a Union insignia on her/his luggage.
No flashing lights on any portion of luggage.
A backpack may be carried as a piece of your luggage allowance but cannot be worn while in uniform.
Each bag must be identified with a tag that indicates “CREW”.

Personal Hygiene and Appearance:

Must be clean, neatly trimmed, and conservatively styled.

Must be conservative in color, size and, style: permitted colors include: black, tortoise shell, pearl, silver, and gold.

Makeup should be worn conservatively to achieve a natural look.
o Mascara, lipstick, and blush are recommended.
Natural colors that complement the skin tone should be applied, no extreme shades.
Freshen makeup as needed but never in the view of passengers.
Fingernails
Must be clean and well-manicured.
Must be no longer than ¼ inch measured from the fingertip and should be even in length and shape.
Polish must be one color (or natural French tip) with no adornment, decals, glitter, or Language. Must complement the uniform, the following colors are not allowed
o Black, Neon and Chrome
Polish must be removed if chipped.

Must be unaltered.
Must be worn on the chest, left side of outermost garment.
Company ID Badge
A valid Mesa ID must be worn at all times on outermost garment at or above waist level. Must be readable and upright and secured by a uniform complementing lanyard or clip.
Stickers cannot be added on the badge.
Lanyard
o Note: sports teams, colleges, religious beliefs, and entertainment/cartoon lanyards are not permitted.
Lanyards must be break-away. Adornment, pins, or advertising of any kind is not permitted on the lanyard.
Pins
A maximum of 3 pins may be worn at one time.
The applicable pins listed below may be worn on the left side of the uniform or either side of the serving garment.
Company Anniversary pin IOE
Must be company issued and codeshare specific.
One tie or scarf must be tied around neck/shirt in a conservative manner projecting a professional image.
Tie tacks or bars may be of plain gold or silver tone.
Face Mask
Must be company issued and codeshare specific mask, no sport logos, bedazzling,
graphics and patterns

Can be worn during any phase of flight
APPROVED EYE PROTECTION:
Face Shields (UAX)
Must be worn in conjunction with a face mask/covering
Must be removed and properly stowed during taxi, takeoff and landing
Must be removed in any non-medical emergency event such as a decompression or evacuation and stowed to ensure they will not hinder emergency procedures
Cannot be worn in combination with eye protection
Must be plain in appearance
If the face shield includes colored foam padding or accents, blues and grays are preferred to match the United brand; however black or white foam padding are also allowed. No other colors of trim or foam padding are allowed
No text, patterns or logos are allowed
Disposable face shields are acceptable provided they meet the above specifications. Follow all manufacturer’s instructions on disposal and cleaning and do not wear the disposable face shield in excess of the manufacturer’s recommendations

Must be a neutral color that compliments the uniform.
Smart watches or fitness tracker are permitted.
Rings
Maximum of two rings on one hand. A wedding/engagement set counts as one.
May be gold, rose gold, silver, titanium, bronze tone, or precious stone.
Width must not exceed 1 inch.
Knuckle and thumb rings are not permitted.
Bracelet
Must be of conservative style and only one per wrist.
Rubber, plastic, cloth, charm, or rope bracelets are not allowed.
May be gold, rose gold, silver, titanium, bronze, precious stone, or pearl and may not exceed ½ inch in width.
Medical alert bracelets are an exception to the standard.
Earrings
One set of matching earrings, one per lobe.
Earring gauges and cuffs are not allowed.
Dangle and hoops must not exceed 1 inch in diameter.
May be gold, rose gold, silver, titanium, bronze, precious stone, or pearl only.
Necklace
Necklaces may not be visible if worn by men.
A single strand of pearls or precious stone, or a single chain of gold, rose gold, silver, titanium, and bronze may be worn.
Maximum chain width is ¼ inch and maximum chain length is 18 inches.
Pendants may not exceed the size of a US quarter.
Medical alert necklaces are an exception to the standard and may be worn by male or
female.
Eyeglasses and Sunglasses
Prescription eyeglasses and reading glasses are permitted but must convey a professional style, size and frame color.
May be worn with a plain cord or chain.
Sunglasses may be worn outside only.
Outerwear Accessories (Gloves/Hat/Scarves)
Accessories must be removed when inside.
Must be devoid of all logos.

Inflight Managers reserve the right to have an individual removed from duty and issued a UFW (Unavailable for Work) for missed day(s).
