Teilhard Seminar
Wednesday 6 November 2019
9am at Ushaw College
Prof. Ilia Delio OSF (Villanova University)
Living Creation Theology
in the Context of
Contemporary Science:
The Distinctive Contribution
of the Franciscan
Theological Tradition
Bonaventure and Scotus constructed a latticework of
ideas that grew out of the theological experience of
Francis of Assisi.
In light of how science describes nature today in terms of
deep relationality, cosmic holism and evolution,
Franciscan theology has never been more relevant.
In particular, Prof. Delio will discuss key insights of
Scotus that pave the way for Process theology,
especially the the work of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, whose theogenic vision enkindles the primacy of Christ in
the 21st century.
