Production Technology of Avocado in Pakistan

Location: Chhara pani (Marree)Varieties are grown:1-California2-SeloanClimate:  This subtropical species needs a climate

without frost and not too much wind. The plantlets of Avocado should be protected from frost for 3 years.

Soil:Don’t required specific type of soil but the drainage system of soil should be best.

Time of Plantation

1. California is planted in Zaed Khareef season and give fruit

in August.2. Seloan is planted in Khareef

season and give fruit in Octuber/November.

PropagationWhile an avocado

propagated by seed, the offspring is unlikely to resemble the parent cultivar in fruit quality. Thus, commercial orchards are planted using grafting andbudding methods.

Establishment of a garden

Plant x Plant distance = 9 metersand it is planted in to the pit of 1x1 diameter

IrrigationIn the first 3 years irrigation

should be given carefullyIn summer season irrigation

should be given after 10 days.In winter irrigation should be

applied after 20 days.Also the amount of raining

should be kept under consideration.

A mature plant requires 60kg FYM every year in January.

Chemical fertilizers can be applied according to need.
