When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, he is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. But he’s not prepared for the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, who is determined to exercise control over the town’s youth. When the reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges pins a father longing for the son he lost against a young man aching for the father who walked out on him.

To the rockin’ rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated Top Forty score, augmented with dynamic new songs, Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people while guiding them with a warm heart and open mind.

Donovan Marie Lawson is ecstatic to return from “under the rock” to the NTPA production world! After a life-changing event and for the past two years, Donovan has solely been working as the NTPA Marketing Associate. She is immensely proud of these hard-working students and encourages them to dance with energy like her angel above!Donovan’s favorite NTPA directing and choreography credits are Junie B. Jones The Musical Jr, High School Musical Jr, Annie Jr, Alice in Wonderland, and Once on This Island, Jr. Donovan is thrilled to be a part of the NTPA family where she has the wonderful opportunity to share her knowledge as a theatre artist, director, designer, and arts advocate helping to enrich the lives of children!

His favorite NTPA directorial credits include: Les Miserables, Newsies, The Addams Family, Into The Woods, Matilda: The Musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Romeo & Juliet, The Little Mermaid, and A Midsummer Nights Dream. NTPA Members

Over the past three years, our sponsors have helped NTPA to award over $300,000 in scholarships to help local youth attend our program.

Our members give us the ability and inspiration to continue our work each day. Without their support, we couldn’t continue to bring performing arts education to the children of Dallas, McKinney, Frisco, Fairview, and Plano. Membership starts as low as $50 and provides benefits for North Texas Performing Arts and for you. If you are not already a member, please consider joining us today.
