EASA

• The European Aviation Safety Agency was created in 2002 as the EC aviation safetyregulator,

– EASA is an EU agency,

– Centralised rulemaking ; drafting of "opinions" forParlament and council basic regulations, Commission implementing rules,

– Decentralised enforcement by member States, except when centralisation is more efficient,

– airworthiness and environmental design approvals, i.e. "certification" are directly performed by EASA.
