ANKYLOS® plus Implants

ANKYLOS® dental implants consist of uncoated pure titanium (grade 2, according toISO 5832/II). The threaded area features the FRIADENT® plus surface and the cervicalmargin is microstructured*. The implants come in a sterile double glass packing forcontact- free handling. The cover screw has already been mounted in the implant andis only removed prior to placing in the abutment.

Nomenclature

ANKYLOS® plus dental implants are available in three diameters and in differentlengths. Due to the practice-oriented graduation of size they are suitable for allindications of dental implantology with a comprehensive number of single implants. They can be used as implants for healed ridges and also for extraction sites.

The designation of the individual implants always includes a capital letterrepresenting the diameter and a number. The number indicates the length of theimplant in millimeters. The cover of the omplant packing are colour-coded fordistinguishing the implant’s diameter.

Storage/Shelf life/Sterility

Sterile ANKYLOS® implants must be stored at normal room temperature and in a dryplace in their original packaging. The shelf life is printed on the label.

These implants are for single-use only. Any implant which has been placedpreviously or is no longer sterile must not be implanted. The implant must not be usedafter the sterility date. Never interrupt the sterility chain.

Depth drillInstruments for the preparation of the implant bed also feature ring markings for depth calibration andinternal cooling. For inserting implants the depth drills must be used in ascending order. Drills with differentlengths are avaiable. Conical reamersInstruments for enlarging the shank hole corresponding to the conical core of the implants. For each implant a separate reamer is available which also serves as a measuring implant. Due to the non-cutting tip the reamers cannot go beyond the depth of the prepared implant bed.(Fig.: Hand preparation instruments)

BoneExpander/BoneCondenserEnables implants to be placed in areas where inadequatebone is available horizontally, but without having to augmentthe area. The spongiosa zone between the labial and palatalcortical layers must still be intact.

BoneExpanders with D-shaped cross-sections enable the labialand palatal bone layers to be spread for placing the implantsin one stage. Four widths of instrument are used in succession.

Balance Base Abutments These abutments consist of high strength Ti6Al4V as described in ISO 5832/III, are supplied non-sterileand are for single use, as are the bar copings and soldering analogs.Balance-Base Abutments taper at an angle of 15°, which provides for a wide range of angles of insertioneven if the abutments are non-parallel. At least two of these abutments must be used. The superstructure isalways screw-retained from the occlusal aspect. As these abutments are made in one piece, they do nothave a straining screw and are inserted with a special, 1,8 mm hexagonal insertion key. A torque of 25 Ncm is recommended.

Transfer Components for all Parts of the Balance SystemThe transfer components consist of surgical steel and the transfer screws of Ti6Al4V. The transfercomponents are supplied non-sterile for single use only. When using the Balance System, the implantposition is transferred with screw-retained components. The abutment is retained with an occlusal screwand an “open tray” is used. A transfer post in a “closed” tray can also be used for repositioning (indicatedif the implants are not parallel).

Abutments: SynCone®

SynCone® abutments SynCone® – The revolutionary treatment concept for immediate loading: Patient-specific. High grade. Cost-effective. This minimally invasive treatment allows the denture to be placed while the anaesthetic is still effective. No special implant or instruments are required and the operator is free to decide on analternative type of conventional restoration.

Due to the reproducible, standardised procedure, a SynCone® can also be used as a prefabricated retaineron healed ridge implants.

Transfer Implant analogs

The special insertion key for abutments with snap attachments should be used for inserting the abutments.The abutments are made of high strength Ti6Al4V as described in ISO 5832/III and are supplied non-sterile for single use.

Abutments without sulcus height are indicated for specific cases where the alveolar mucosa is extremely thinand does not provide the minimal requirements for forming dense soft tissue around the abutment. Theseabutments enable to start the prosthetic restoration directly from the implant and even can extend the crownmargin to the peripheral implant margin. The abutment Balance posterior 0,0 offers the stability of the taper connection and consists like the sulcusformer and screws of Ti6Al4V. The Permador abutment is made of cast-on Permador® and engages into thegrooves of the implant’s top surface.The transfer components consist of surgical steel. All components aresupplied non-sterile for single use.

Sulcus formers for Standard abutmentsAll sulcus formers and abutments are made of high strength Ti6Al4V as described in ISO 5832/III and aresupplied non-sterile for single use.Like the Balance System sulcus formers, the compact sulcus formers are wound into the inner thread of theimplant once it has been opened. Alternatively, standard sulcus formers can be wound into the inner threadof the cover screw before opening the implant (also for transgingival implant healing). Screwdriver 1.0 mmhexagon. Sulcus formers are intended for single use.

Straight abutmentsStraight, standard abutments are inserted with insertion keys for “a” abutments or “b” abutments. The M 1.6 occlusal thread is for fixing the superstructure in place.

Preangled abutments15° standard abutments are fixed in the correct position with a positioning key for preangled abutments andtightened by applying 1.5 Ncm to the straining screw. Screwdriver: 1.0 mm hexagon. The superstructuresare retained by the M1 X 0.2 lateral thread.

Laboratory analog two-pieceTwo-piece laboratory analogs are made of aluminium (sleeve) and the removable analog (surgical steel).

For optimal result, the analog sleeves and the abutment analogs must only be used once!Do not excert tension on the abutment analogs when pulling them out of the analog sleeves.

Laboratory analog one-pieceWith the Standard- Abutment system implant prosthetics are fabricated on analogs of the abutments. The one-piece laboratory analog are made of surgical steel. They serve as analogs to fabricale models and to fix gold copings in the soldering model.

Temporary capsPlastic caps (POM) building up temporaryrestorations. Temporary caps are for use withboth straight and preangled abutments.

Transfer caps (PC)The impression caps for standard abutments made of poly-carbonate fit straight and 15° abutments. These caps areeither retained on the abutments or screwed to straightabutments from the occlusal aspect using long-head screws.The four sizes of impression caps are colour-codedfacilitate visual identification.

ANKYLOS® Basic equipment: Prosthetics

Prosthetic TrayThe new prosthetic tray is based on an ergonomic peg traymade of anodized aluminium which provides for more efficientworking and increased safety as the instruments are arranged inthe order in which they are used. This tray centres around aprosthetic ratchet with torque control devices. The torque controldevices can also be used by hand, which doubles their range ofapplications.

Trial Abutments Standard Abutment systemTrial abutments out of resin indicate the right abutment for theStandard Abutment System: They offer the fast selection ofangulation, diameter, height of sulcus and abutment. The abutments will only be stucked into the implant and can besterilized.
