Welcome to EASCAN Providing quality pre-engineered steel buildings has been the history of Eastern Canadian Structures Limited. Since 1974, Eastern Canadian Structures Ltd. has been providing quality pre-engineered steel buildings to hundreds of companies and organizations in Atlantic Canada and around the world.

In 1993, the opportunity arose for Eastern Canadian Structures Limited to design and fabricate its own pre-engineered buildings, which became known as the Eascan Building Systems, in Truro, Nova Scotia. This advancement made the company one of the first in Atlantic Canada to engineer and manufacture its own steel buildings.

We continue to work hard as a respected builder and leader in Atlantic Canada. The company’s goal, from concept to completion, has always been to deliver a quality building experience every time. Eascan engineers and fabricates as well as builds metal building systems (pre-engineered steel buildings) for business owners and general contractors.

Eascan is proud of its achievements and is pleased to guarantee customized service and a competitive price for its pre-engineered steel buildings. The company also fabricates and erects structural steel projects. Eascan can also do small job fabrication.

Building Types and SizeWhatever your building need, Eascan has a structure to fit your requirements. Eascan can provide your building solution, from 8’ x 8’ buildings up to 360’ x 2,000’ structures.

Eascan building systems offer you a full range of quality components that are designed to meet your needs. Eascan’s trained engineers and designers can design, manufacture and produce a unique building to fit your industrial, commercial, recreational or retail requirements. A wide range of other applications is also available, including:

• Heavy structures (usually in connection with multiple crane systems)• Clear span structures much wider than normal buildings (up to 250’)• Multi-storey buildings• Circular-shaped structures with straight sidewalls• Grandstands, and steel clear-span systems for masonry walls.

At Eascan’s Truro plant, structural steel, steel ductwork and miscellaneous metals, etc. are also produced.

Choosing a Building FrameSTANDARD BUILDINGS

SM (Span Master) Available in clear-span widths from 20’ to 50’ and eave heights from 10’ to 20’ and roof slopes of 1 in 12. The standard increments of length are 15’, 20’ and 25’.

Columns are available with a uniform section that makes it possible to install a flush wall throughout the interior for office, service industries and warehouses.

LR (Low Roof) This versatile series is available in clear-span widths of 40’ to 250’ and modular widths of 60’ to 360’. The eave heights can range from 10’ to 60’. LR buildings with tapered rigid frames can offer considerable economies of scale.

This feature, combined with architecturally pleasing profiles, makes LR buildings ideal for a range of business and industrial applications.

Interior columns are available in several standard spacing arrangements, which provide maximum economy and meet your exact business needs.

Wing Units Wing units for Eascan buildings are available in various span sizes for flexible design and economy. Wing units may be attached to either, or both, sides.

STRUCTURAL STEELStructural steel such as steel joists and steel deck are also available from Eascan.

Roof SheetsEascan’s standard roof panel is a screwed-down steel panel, which has 36-inch wide coverage and is available in 24 or 26 gauge. It comes in galvalume or painted finish.

For standing seam roofs, the panel is 24-inches wide and is available in 24 or 22 gauge. This panel has mechanically seamed laps and comes in galvalume or white finish.

Special colours and optional roof panels are available upon request.

Wall SheetsThe standard wall panel is a 36-inch wide wall sheet. The standard 26 gauge pre-painted roll panel comes with coloured coordinated fasteners.

Optional wall panels in various profiles and gauges are also available.

Diamond Rib and other panels profiles are available. Rake, eave and other gutter flashings are available in standard Bone White or Dark Brown. Other colours are available on special request.

SExTON AUTO Truro, Nova ScotiaMain Building - 40’ wide x 100’ long x 16’ eave height

Sexton Motors needed to relocate in 2007 and turned to Eascan to provide a pre-engineered building suited for their automotive repair business. The building features eight overhead doors, in two different sizes.

Eascan designed and engineered the metal building and foundation to fit the narrow lot location and added a stylish stone masonry front.

RITChIE BROS. AUCTIONEERS Debert, Nova ScotiaMain Building - 145’ wide x 75’ long x 24’ eave high

Ritchie Bros. is one of Atlantic Canada’s premier commercial auctioneers and required a building suited for viewing and bidding during auctions.

A viewing area was planned for inside. As well, a large section of the outside wall had to be open for auctions.

LakESiDE auToMoTiVE Lakeside, Nova Scotia Main Building - 65’ wide x 58’ long x 16’ eave height

ATLANTIC CARRIERS Moncton, New Brunswick 60’ wide x 195’ long x 24’ eave height

Atlantic Carriers needed to construct a large truck repair centre for retail and commercial use in 2005. The office and parts area had to be a 2-story section on the front of the building

with a canopy attached. The solution was a pre-engineered steel building with a structural steel floor system.

This small pre-engineered metal building was constructed with a classic garage look.

Bright bands of colour were added during the building’s construction in 2002.

CEnTREViLLE BapTiST ChuRCh Centreville, Nova Scotia 60’ wide X 195’ long X 14/20’ high

MASSTOWN MARkET Masstown, Nova Scotia 25,730 sq. ft.

As one of Nova Scotia’s best known fruit and vegetable market, the Masstown Market owners have turned to Eascan four times to meet the growing building needs of their business.

The first project started with a challenge. They needed to expand the grocery store without it closing.

Centreville Baptist was expanding and needed an extension designed to compliment their existing church.

Eascan worked with the church’s building committee to offer a pre-engineered building made of three components, a sanctuary, an entrance and a multi-function area.

ATLANTIC MOTOPLEx Dieppe, New Brunswick100’ wide x 175’ long x 20’ eave height

Atlantic Motoplex is one of Moncton’s premier motorcycle and motor sport vehicle businesses. In 2005, Eascan worked with the owner to design a pre-engineered metal building based on his vision.

The retail and service facility featured horizontal exterior metal siding on its front.

WEST RiVER hoLSTEin Antigonish, Nova Scotia Main Barn - 46,000 sq.ft.

The farm owner suffered a devastating fire which destroyed his wooden dairy facilities.

Eascan worked with the owner in 2008 and quickly designed and constructed a new pre-engineered metal loafing barn and milking parlour.

SuMaC FaRMS Chance Harbour, Nova ScotiaMain Building - 70’ wide x 200’ long x 20’ eave height

Eascan provided a pre-engineered riding arena structure at Sumac horse farm. The new facility is located on 460 acres of private woodland in Pictou County, Nova Scotia and

was constructed in 2002. Eascan continuously collaborated with the client to meet exacting specifications.

Jost Vineyard, a renowned Nova Scotia winery, required a wine vat storage facility quickly. Eascan worked with the owner to provide a unique pre-engineered metal building. The

outside finish was designed to look like an old-style barn by applying vertical spruce wood siding.

TAYLOR LUMBER Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia 17,968 sq. ft.

Taylor Lumber has turned to Eascan for several decades when their company has needed to expand. The versatility of Eascan pre-engineered steel buildings has met very different building needs including a Planer Mill building, a Sawmill building and a Boiler Building.

The owner had originally come to Eascan requesting a new Boiler Building to burn their waste product and to generate their electricity.

MainLanD CoMMon CanaDa GaMES FaCiLiTy Halifax, Nova Scotia 140,000 sq. ft.Eascan worked with EllisDon Corporation and provided the structural steel for the facility being built for the 2011 Canada Games. The facility features an 8- lane, 25-metre pool, smaller leisure and teaching pools as well as a waterslide.

It also contains a 200 metre 6-lane track, 4-full-sized gyms and a fitness facility.

TanTRaMaR CiViC CEnTRESackville, New Brunswick 38,700 sq. ft.

Eascan worked with the general contractor and architect of the Tantramar Civic Centre in 2002 to construct the recreational facility to be used by the community and the Mount Allison University hockey team, the Mounties.

Eascan provided the engineering and construction services to combine a pre-engineered building and a structural steel structure.

DR. CARSON & MARION MURRAY COMMUNITY CENTRE Springhill, Nova Scotia 30,000 sq. ft.

The Civic Centre is the first arena in North America to use engineered natural daylight to illuminate the ice surface, Eascan supplied the structural steel framing and roof trusses for the arena. The arena has 1,000 fixed seats and is an excellent place for trade shows.

The client had an ambitious completion schedule and Eascan was able to work with the town to see this portion of work through.

Dr. Carson and Marion Murray Community Centre is a multi-purpose recreational facility that uses geothermal energy, from the former Springhill Mines, to heat and cool the building. The energy also heats the spectator seats inside the rink.

Eascan worked with the architect and general contractor, during construction in 2004, to accommodate different types of construction such as the masonry walls and the flat roof used for the entrance to this facility.
