TROHA | Illinois MIKE SEPTEMBER 2015 SPOTLIGHT Q: When did you decide to join our family and what was the motivation behind it? I came to HST in January of 2014. Prior to that, I was a construction surveyor for 17 years and a Farmers Agent for 2 years. I was on the verge of opening my own Farmers Agency when I was contacted by Steve Marino and Pat Williams. After meeting with both, I decided to give it some thought. At that time, my wife, Lois, went into premature labor 3 months early. She was in the hospital for a month before my son, James, was born. James remained in NICU for two months. After that 3 month ordeal, I decided to meet with Steve and Pat again. It was then that I decided to make the move to health insurance. Looking back, it was the right choice! “Anyone can do what we do, but not everyone can do what we do.” Q: What advice would you oer new agents who are getting started or existing agents who are chasing the Partnership Bonus? 1. Listen to your leaders. They've been where you're at right now. 2. Make contacts: 100 calls/day, emails, texts, social media, signs, trade shows, etc. 3. Listen to prospects. 80/20. They talk 80% of the time, you talk 20%. 4. Genuinely care! Do what's best for the client and it'll come back to you tenfold. 5. Stay positive. Life isn't always rainbows and unicorns. Bad days happen. They pass. 6. Enjoy the ride. You're in 100% control of your future! Let this sink in: Anyone can do what we do, but not everyone can do what we do. That means anyone is capable of succeeding here. Everyone has the opportunity, but not everyone will do what it takes to make it. Q: What makes you successful? I'm just great! Okay, seriously, I do think I have a good work ethic and find it easy to talk to people. I don't believe I have a secret to success. I try to make contact with as many people as possible and try to put myself in their shoes. People need to know that you genuinely care about them and their family. I believe that the 'secret' to my success could be summed up in a simple formula: Contacts + Gathering Information + Empathy = Success. Q: What do you do when you're not selling insurance? My wife, Lois, and my son, James, are the two most important people in my life. When I'm not working, I spend time with my family. If I'm not spending time with them, I tend to play a lot of pool. Pool is my vice outside of family and work. I enjoy playing 14:1, One Pocket, Banks, 8 Ball, 9 Ball, and 10 Ball. Strangely enough, 9 ball is my best game and my least favorite. Go figure. I don't play in as many tournaments as I'd like, but that'll change in the near future. I also enjoy fishing, camping, and other outdoor activities. Q: Please tell us about some of your accomplishments. * HST January 2014 Superstart Class Winner * HST 2014 #2 Rookie of the Year * HST 1,000,000 Partnership Award August 2015 * Qualified for every trip since I've been a part of this amazing company! Q: When did you decide to join our family and what was the motivation behind it?

“Anyone can do what we do, but not everyone can do what we do.”

Q: What advice would you offer new agents who are getting started or existing agents who are chasing the Partnership Bonus?

1. Listen to your leaders. They've been where you're at right now.2. Make contacts: 100 calls/day, emails, texts, social media, signs, trade shows, etc.3. Listen to prospects. 80/20. They talk 80% of the time, you talk 20%.4. Genuinely care! Do what's best for the client and it'll come back to you tenfold.5. Stay positive. Life isn't always rainbows and unicorns. Bad days happen. They pass.6.

I try to make contact with as many people
