Bonded 3G
The importance of the internet to organisations is unquestionable; it provides the means for the majority of
business communication. Without it, businesses would grind to a halt. Being able to access the internet on
the move has become essential for most companies, whatever sector they are in. Whilst the improvement in
3G and mobile connectivity has improved in recent years, it is often not sufficient to provide the bandwidth
demanded by many modern day mobile applications such as video conferencing or sending live streams.
This can cause many problems to organisations, most notably a fall in productivity across their remote
workforce. Worker satisfaction can also be affected, as the frustration of waiting for data to send or be
received takes its toll.
Bonded 3G, or Mobile Data Connectivity, is a solution to this problem. The technology provides a super-
fast wireless internet connection and allows your workforce to connect to the business VPN from anywhere
in the world without the need for a fixed line. Bonded 3G operates on the 3G network, combining multiple
channels to provide a high capacity internet connection that is stable and reliable, whatever the location. A
number of SIM cards from different networks can be combined, allowing the user to utilise the bandwidth
from each as a single connection, therefore multiplying the available bandwidth by the number of SIMs that
are in use. A three-channel bonded solution using three SIM cards can deliver speeds up to 21Mbps, while
up to 42Mbps is possible with the six-channel version using six SIM cards; both dependent on cell site
congestion and signal strength. By using SIM cards from different networks, the solution ensures a smooth
and consistent connection even when on the move as the system switches from one network provider to
another.
What are the benefits of using a Bonded 3G solution?
Bonded 3G used as an internet backup solution helps keep companies online, ensuring they are always
accessible and able to communicate with customers, prospects and suppliers even if an internet connection
has been lost. Companies need not worry how long their connection will be down for and can be confident
they can still operate as usual. This also provides security benefits; the solution does not rely on a single
point of failure and so it will continue to work and power your CCTV should someone cut the original
internet lines. Using Bonded 3G as a backup solution will help you meet your insurance premium needs.
One of the main benefits of Bonded 3G is its instant, portable and flexible nature. The solution provides an
instant connection without having to wait for a fixed line to be installed. Companies that have been let
down by internet providers when moving office have been able to start work thanks to Bonded 3G.
Broadcasters are able to utilise the portability of the solution, taking it with them to wherever they need to
film, and the bandwidth is great enough to send a video stream back to headquarters. The unit only requires
12V of power, meaning a car or boat battery will suffice. The fact that the costly and often time consuming
process of installing a fixed line is not required means that businesses using temporary sites, particularly
construction workers, find the solution is ideally suited to them.
