The WISE system is the design of a device for deep hole drilling machines whose main objective is to adapt machining parameters on-line to optimize the cutting and tool life without the presence of an alert operator and drilling expert.

The inhomogeneity of the type of operations, or parameter settings, even from steel manufacturers, may lead to intersecting holes and the reduction of the lifetime of tools.

The system detects variations of the efforts of the process and adjusts the drilling parameters online to keep a continuous process.

The system detects intersections in the process and sets the parameters needed to keep the quality of the operation and to increase the tool life.

In a process, of drilling intersections are a constant that require some care in the same passage. The failure in the setting of parameters by the operator during the intersection can lead to some less pleasant effects, such as tool breakage, tool wear, plus diversions, etc. All these effects may lead to costs that are never covered by a budget, and are later called unpredictability cost of nonconformance.
