+Step 1: Define Problem

Scrap wood needs to be made into a wooden puzzle cube

Must design a 3-D puzzle system that only uses 27 small cubes to create a large puzzle cube when assembled

Page 3: Problem Solving/Engineering Design Process

+Step 2: Brainstorm, Research & Generate Idea

Our group came up with several designs with the pieces of the cube

Researched possible materials for packaging and possible puzzle cube combination

Page 4: Problem Solving/Engineering Design Process

+Step 3: Identify Criteria & Specify Constraints

Use 27 cubes

Forms a 2 ¼ -inch cube when assembled

Pieces must interlock

Each puzzle piece must have more than 3 but no more than 6 small cubes in it

No two puzzles pieces can be the same

Page 5: Problem Solving/Engineering Design Process

+Step 4: Develop/ Propose Design & Choose Solution

Selected a complicated cube comprised of 6 puzzle pieces

Page 6: Problem Solving/Engineering Design Process

+Step 5: Implement Propose Solution

Assigned roles in the cube project to group members

Page 7: Problem Solving/Engineering Design Process

+Step 6: Make Model/Prototype

Designed puzzle pieces on AutoCAD and inventor to make sure puzzle cube would assemble correctly

Page 8: Problem Solving/Engineering Design Process

+Step 7: Evaluate Solution & It’s Consequences

Design works but only has one combination

Page 9: Problem Solving/Engineering Design Process

+Step 8: Reform Design

No changes was made

Page 10: Problem Solving/Engineering Design Process

+Step 9: Create Final Design

Final puzzle pieces built, painted and assembled into a cube

Packaging/ direction made and placed with finished puzzle

+Step 10: Communicate Processes/ Result

Technical report written over project and project shared with the class
