What is the big deal?

• Abortion is becoming a major issue in the United States

• Pro-Life interest groups are becoming more popular as the Abortion rate increases.

A response to a US Supreme Court ruling that human abortion were to be legalized throughout nine months of pregnancy in all states.

NATIONAL RIGHT TO LIFE

Background Information

• In June of 1973 the NRLC’s first meeting was held in Detroit.

• The National Right to Life Committee represents over 3000 chapters in US.

• The NRLC Board of Directors now consists of an elected director from each state

Important issues

• The NRLC focuses on the termination of legalizing abortion, finding alternatives to abortion, and educating the people of the United States on the topic of abortion.

• In addition, the NRLC focuses on euthanasia, health care reform, Medicare as well as human cloning.

NRLC ULTIMATE GOAL!

•The ultimate goal of the National Right to Life Committee is to restore legal protection to the innocent human life.

NRLC in the government

• The national right to life has an extremely conservative political leaning!!

• The NRLC would be affiliated with the Republican Party 100%.

Democrats vs. Republicans

• Democrats mainly have a Pro Choice view.

• Republicans represent the conservative outlook and therefore is a large supporter of the NRLC

Republican Involvement

•NRLC is the first major endorsement by a national grassroots organization in the Republican nomination process. 

• Three of the four justices likely to be replaced have been either outright hostile to the cause of unborn babies or only occasionally helpful.

• Fred Thompson, the Republican candidate who entered the race late, has continually touted his claim that he is “100% pro-life” and is supported by NRLC.
