ACCOMMODATIONS:
Our facilities accommodate up to 472 guests, often with multiple groups on-site
All accommodations have bunk beds with comfortable foam mattresses, heat, lights, and electricity
Guests must provide their own sleeping bag/bedding and towels
To ensure a bed-bug free facility, all bedding and luggage (with some exceptions) must be processed through our heat room

GROUP BOOKINGS & MEETINGS:
YMCA Camp Elphinstone’s facilities can be rented by groups for day or overnight experiences
Exclusive site use available that ensures your group is the only one on site
5 halls with 7 rooms in total including the new Exploration Hall with catering facilities, HD ceiling-mounted projector, and sound system
Wifi available in the Dining Hall, Exploration Hall, Mackenzie Hall, and the Lodges
Phones are accessible 24 hours a day and a fax machine is available during office hours. Cell service available in select locations
YMCA Camp Elphinstone is proud to offer an electronics free experience upon the group’s request
Flip charts and whiteboards available on request
Projector and screen available for rent
Exploration Hall: A state of the art building for presentation based events. Featuring a stage, fireplace, attached catering facilities, 110” HD projection screen, and audio system with 2 wireless microphones.

Upper MacKenzie Hall: Large room with lots of natural light perfect for small meetings or as a breakout space for your event. Room is dividable for added space.

Lower MacKenzie Hall: Ground floor space located near the lodges for added convenience.

Dining Hall: Large uniquely shaped hall with amazing views of the ocean. Kitchen facilities connected.

Rec Hall: Our largest building with wood burning fireplace, wrap-around deck, and full of rustic charm.

Mark Hume Leadership Centre: Gorgeous oceanfront building perfect for a small, intimate meeting on upper floor. Enjoy views of Howe Sound from the covered porch.
Capacity: 50 Size: 23’ x 37’ / 851 square feet
Outdoor Gathering Space: Bring over 300 people together in the warm trees of Chapel Grove or at our ocean-front campfire setting. For an outdoor dining or reception location, the covered patio at Exploration Hall offers a convenient and sheltered outdoor location.

FOOD SERVICES:
All meals at YMCA Camp Elphinstone are prepared by our
excellent Chefs and food services team and are served
either family or buffet style
Our standard meals are delicious and nutritious while our
banquet and special events menus feature amazing dinners
and appetizers
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a snack are included in our
daily all-inclusive rates
Lunch and dinner include an endless salad bar while
breakfast includes a cereal and fruit bar
We proudly prepare food for most dietary needs,
restrictions, and allergies. There is no additional charge for
these meals providing they are the exception and the
requested forms have been submitted
Complimentary coffee, tea, and fruit available 24 hours a
day in our Dining Hall
Alcohol service may be permitted with Exclusive Use only
and is the responsibility of the group

ropes, rock climbing, rappelling, archery, teambuilding

awareness with fire and shelter building, orienteering, wild
edibles, discovery hikes, human marine impacts, or creek,
forest, or beach studies
Games to make you feel like a kid again including capture
the flag, pack rats, gaga ball, field and court games, skits,
and running Pictionary

TRANSPORTATION:
BC Ferries is the primary connector to the Coast. The
Langdale Ferry Terminal is less than 2km away from camp.
YMCA Camp Elphinstone offers a shuttle service or a
complimentary guided walk to and from the Langdale
Terminal for guests walking on the ferry. BC Ferries offers a
complimentary luggage service for groups to reserve a
private dolly for their luggage while on the ferry
Our private deep water dock can welcome guests arriving
by water taxi or private boat during daylight hours (please
note that a YMCA lifeguard must be present at all times
guests are on the dock). Contact us for more information
Overnight parking is available on site in our 2 upper lots
FIRST AID:
All YMCA Camp Elphinstone program staff maintain
minimum certifications of Standard First Aid and CPR and
Bronze Cross
Groups are responsible for overseeing any first aid given to
their participants and must have a first aid vehicle on site in
case of emergency
YMCA Camp Elphinstone is a 25 minute drive to the Sechelt
Hospital and less than 10 minutes to a walk-in Medical Clinic
in Gibsons
GROUP GUIDELINES & EXPECTATIONS:
Groups are responsible for their guests’ safety, behaviour,
and wellbeing while visiting YMCA Camp Elphinstone
If your group includes children, parents or adult chaperones
must provide 24 hour supervision of children
Guests are not permitted on the waterfront without a
YMCA lifeguard present. The waterfront is closed from dusk
to dawn
Pets are not permitted on site
Camp Elphinstone is a non-smoking facility. Special
permission may be grated with Exclusive Use for designated
outdoor smoking areas
Any damage to the facility or equipment will be charged to
the group
If your group is serving alcohol, the appropriate licenses
must be acquired and Exclusive Use must be granted

Kayaking:* in beginner ocean kayaks, participants learn the skills necessary to safely enter, exit and manoeuvre their boat and apply learning through practice and games in Howe Sound

No Trace Fire Building: participants build and light a small campfire designed for different survival situations using “No Trace” practices

Group Games
Capture the Flag: two or more groups compete in attempt to capture the other team’s flag
Gold Rush: groups rush to steal the opposition’s gold and finish with the biggest pile
Icebreakers: active and exciting games to help participants become comfortable with one another and their new environment
Super Scavination: a scavenger hunt that combines touring camp, meeting YMCA staff and learning Camp Elphinstone trivia
Predator vs. Prey: participants experience the interdependence of animals through role-play
Smugglers vs. Spies: one team must take their loot through a spy filled area without being caught
Pack Rats: bring the host a requested object to get a point. Bonus points for creativity, sportsmanship, and team spirit
Free Time
Courts: beach volleyball court, four tetherball courts, basketball courts, and all equipment you need
Field: with a huge grass field and shed full of sports equipment, our playfield gets participants moving and active
Fishing:* join us on the dock as we provide a stick, line and hook for participants to make their own fishing rod
Morning Dip:* jump in the ocean for a quick dip before a warm breakfast (lifejackets required and supplied)
Swimming:* after completing a swim test, participants can play in the “crib,” a swimming area created by our docks
Gaga Ball: kids of all ages learn strategy and hand-eye coordination in this fast pace, competitive, high energy camp favourite
Evening Programs
Campfire: sing songs, learn some skits, and enjoy the toasty heat. A must have for any trip to camp!
Initiative Challenges: activities like an egg drop provide the opportunity for teamwork, creativity and a whole lot of fun
Skit in a Bag: participants are divided into groups and challenged to create a skit using all of the items in the bag
Stop the Bus: like Scategories with a twist. Competing in teams, provide the best answer for each of the categories listed
Running Pictionary: teams complete a series of picture puzzles while racing each other through obstacles and barriers
GROUP GAMES, FREE TIME ACTIVITIES, & EVENING PROGRAMS: ALL AGES AND ALL SEASONS *YMCA waterfront staff required at a ratio of 1 staff for every 15 participants.

FEES Accommodation fees are per person, per day and include all standard meals and snacks. Pending availability, YMCA Camp Elphinstone can be booked exclusively (free for groups > 250). This includes use of the site and halls but not staff fees or accommodations which are assigned based on group size and needs.
