Installation of Ricoh 7000 v1.2 ICC Profile To install the ICC profile for use on the Ricoh GelSprinter GX7000 for the Sublijet R ink, please follow the subsequent instructions: 1. Browse the CD to locate the ‘Ricoh 7000 v1.2’ located in the ‘Profiles’ folder and ‘Right Click’ on the icon, and select ‘Install Profile’. The Profile is now installed on your PC (Note: no confirmation is shown on screen). To confirm the profile is installed ‘Right Click’ on the file again, the menu will show ‘Uninstall Profile’ don’t choose anything on this menu, just click off screen to cancel.

Exceptions: Some versions of Windows 95 and 2000 will not show "Install Profile" on the context menu. If this is the case with your PC, the ICC file will need to be manually copied to your system. Copy the file ‘R7000 v1.2’ from the CD to: Win 95,98,98se,ME----- to ----C:/Windows/System/Color Win NT4----to---- C:/winnt/system32/color Win 2000---to----C:/winnt/system32/spool/drivers/color Win XP----to----C:/windows/system32/spool/drivers/color

Configuring the Ricoh GelSprinter GX7000 Printer Driver to use the Sublimation ICC Colour Correction Profile

Go to START—SETTINGS—PRINTERS & FAXES. Right click on your GelSprinter GX 7000 printer and choose PRINTING PREFERENCES. 1

On the SETUP tab follow the numbered sequence shown and configure the driver.

When you click on number 5 it will open the following screen.

Change settings 6 and 7 as shown. The remainder should be as default. Use the diagram opposite to check the rest of the settings.

Step 8 : Click on the Page Settings tab and choose the correct paper size and orientation for your print job.

9 Step 9 : Click on the Save button and name your setup for later recall.

Click on OK and your printer driver is set up.

Configuring the Ricoh GelSprinter GX7000 Printer Driver to use the Sublimation ICC Colour Correction Profile

Note : There is no ‘Mirror’ option on this driver so the reversing of the image will need to be performed at source. (see following pages for typical methods to do this).

Note : This does not save the Paper Settings information so this will need to be set every time you change the actual paper you are using.

Photoshop Printing to the Ricoh Driver requires a manual flipping of the image in Photoshop. This is achieved by A. clicking on IMAGE and B. clicking on ROTATE CANVAS then FLIP CANVAS HORIZONTAL. B

Photoshop continued Step G : Set the COLOUR HANDLING to ‘Let Photoshop Determine Colors’. Step H : Set the correct printer profile from the drop down menu - in this case it is the Ricoh 7000 v1.2. Make sure the rendering intent is set to PERCEPTUAL. Click on PRINT. The print dialogue box will appear and because you set everything up on the previous page the GelSprinter 7000 will already be chosen and configured so you can just click on PRINT. Photoshop will retain these settings with all future prints during this session.

Note 1 : If you do not see the options shown above then the button below PAGE SETUP may be set to MORE OPTIONS. If so, click on this button to show this advanced page. Note 2 : Make sure the option COLOUR MANAGEMENT is set (just below the preview screen) Note 3 : If the profile does not appear in the drop down box (H) then make sure the profile has been installed on your Hard Drive correctly or Photoshop has been re-booted since the profile was installed.

Corel Open the ‘Color Management’ window as shown in here. To open select from toolbar – Tools - Color Management… Note: You must have an image or blank page on-screen to select this option. Here we will configure Corel’s default colour space and ICC Profiles. First, all the (Orange/Grey) arrows need to be set as shown. To change the colour of the arrows (Orange colour switched on – Grey colour switched off) just click on the arrow itself. The green arrows and numbers correspond to each phase of the setup process.

(1) To configure Import-Export Settings - Click on the image of the paper to open the ‘Advanced Import/Export Settings’ window (Fig.2). This configures how Corel handles files that are imported and exported. In the import section, select ‘Always convert using’ shown at point (1) in Fig.2 then choose ‘Internal RGB – Fraser (1998)’ from the drop down menu. In the export section, select ‘Always convert using’ shown at point (2) in Fig.2 then choose ‘Internal RGB – Fraser (1998)’ from the drop down menu. (2) Composite Printer settings: Select the ICC printer profile for the Ricoh 7000 v1.2 Note: If you can’t choose the RGB profile from the drop down menu this could mean the ICC profile is not yet installed on your pc or you have not restarted Corel since the ICC profile was installed. Close and re-launch Corel. (3) Internal RGB Space: Select ‘Internal RGB – Fraser (1998)’ from the drop down menu. (4) Monitor: Select the ICC profile for your monitor. You may also check out the website of your monitor manufacture for ICC profiles for your particular monitor. Download it and install it to C:\Windows\System\Color and restart your pc. If in doubt use the Generic Profile. (5) Scanner: Select your scanner ICC profile. If your scanner is not listed, check out the manufacturer’s website for your scanners ICC profiles. Download it and install to C:\Windows\System\Color and restart your pc. If in doubt use the Generic Profile. (6) Separations Printer: Not used or set to your current device if you print separations. (7) To save your settings: Click the + button to open the ‘Save Color Management Style’ window. Give your settings an appropriate name and Click ‘OK’. Corel’s colour space and printer ICC is now set to use the same space that the ICC profiles were created. You can now work with an image as normal.

When your image is ready to print click on FILE - PRINT to open up the print dialogue box. (1) Click on the PREPRESS tab (2) Tick the MIRROR box

(3) Click on the MISC tab (4) Tick the APPLY ICC PROFILE box (and verify that the correct profile is showing in the brackets below) Note : The tab next to Misc is now showing ‘1 Issue’. This is correct as it is reminding you that ‘color correction has been enabled for non postscript output’

(5) Click the GENERAL tab (6) Make sure the destination is to the correct printer (7) Click on PROPERTIES This will take you to the printer properties dialogue box as shown on Pages 2-3. From there you can choose the ‘Custom Setting’ you configured earlier. When you are satisfied that the printer driver is set up correctly you can click on PRINT .
