ENGINE AND MECHANICAL

As the best outfitted and equipped Hylas 56 ever constructed and one of only a few to have seen the benefit of afull-time crew, she is without question the best Hylas 56 ever offered for sale. Numerous improvementsincorporated into her construction include the larger Volvo Penta D3-150 150 HP engine, a desirable lithium-ionelectrical system with a Polar Power DC generator, nearly all 24V systems. One essential upgrade to SERENITY 2is that she is equipped with variable thrust bow and stern thrusters, enabling "dock-assist" mode, which uses thethrusters to keep the yacht in place against the dock. Making it an easy job to secure or release the lines or for aquick touch-and-go to pick up guests.

Lithium-Ion Electrical Architecture

The owner of SERENITY 2 had the foresight to incorporate the latest Lithium-Ion technology into the electricalarchitecture of the yacht, making the boat one of the most electrically efficient vessels in her class. SERENITY 2 isa generation ahead of other comparable vessels.

The systems on SERENITY 2 are relatively straightforward in that it is a pure DC system, so there is no need toconvert onboard generated Alternating Current (AC) to DC to store in the vessel's battery banks. This approach issignificantly more efficient than the typical method of generating AC and converting it to DC.

Also, the vessel's electrical system is designed to be exclusively 24-volt. A significant upgrade to the standard12-volt systems found on most yachts. Only a minimal number of 12-volt and 120-volt systems exist that couldnot be obtained in 24-volt. Also, the Lithium-Ion banks are supplemented by a 1000W array of semi-flexible solarpanels integrated into the hardtop. Out of sight to maintain the aesthetics of the yacht.

Lithionics Lithium-Ion Batteries: The vessel uses several Lithionics Battery lithium-ion battery systems toprovide various duties to both DC and AC electrical systems. All the batteries are equipped with the LithionicsNeverDie Battery Management System (BMS). Two of the batteries are 12 Volt batteries and have built-in BMS,which means that the electronics of the BMS are contained within the two 12 Volt batteries. The other eight large-format "8D" batteries each have 220 Amp-hours capacity.

Bank A: (2) 220A Lithionics Lithium-ion 24V batteries wired in parallel to give a 24 Volt bank with 440 total Amp-hours capacity. This battery bank is primarily dedicated to powering the Bow Thruster and Maxwell Windlass.

Bank B: (2) 220A Lithionics Lithium-ion 24V batteries wired in parallel to give a 24 Volt bank with 440 total Amp-hours capacity. This battery bank is primarily for starting the Polar Power DC Generator, powers the "Bank B" 24Volt DC panel, and offers power to the Victron Energy Quattro 5kW inverter when there is no Shore Power.

Bank C: (4) 220A Lithionics Lithium-ion 24V batteries wired in parallel to give a 24 Volt bank with 880 total Amp-hours capacity. This battery bank powers the Stern Thruster powers the "Bank C" 24 Volt DC panel and offerspower to the Victron Energy Quattro 5kW inverter when there is no Shore Power.

Bank D: 195A Lithionics Lithium-ion 12V battery dedicated as an engine starting battery for the Volvo-Penta D3propulsion engine (connects to the engine starter and engine 180 Amp alternator).

Bank E: 195A Lithionics Lithium-ion 12V battery also connects to the engine 180 Amp alternator. It is dedicated torunning 12 Volt Accessories on the vessel, such as navigation instruments and radios.

Solbian Solar Panels: (Total of 1000W) On the hardtop, there are two separate solar panel arrays–one on thePort side and one on the Starboard side. Eight Solbian SP100 100 Watt solar panels, 4 on each side. Four SolbianSP50 50 Watt solar panels, 2 on each side. On the Port side, four SP100 and two SP50 panels are wired in seriesto a solar charge controller, the same for the Starboard side. The solar panel system has 1,000 Watts of solarpower that runs through the 24 Volt output of the Victron BlueSolar 150/35 MPPT solar charge controllers.

This output is directed through three 100 Amp rated Perfect Switch single rectifier isolators. The solar outputrecharges 24 Volt Battery Banks A, B, and C. At the maximum solar output, we can expect up to a total of about40 Amps or charging current per hour. Also, the solar panel system indirectly recharges the 12 Volt battery banksD and E. This is accomplished with two Victron Orion 24 Volt to 12 Volt DC Converters that can output up to 20Amps of current each.

Polar Power 8kW DC Generator: The generator has 2 Alternators: the sizeable main alternator is programmed torecharge the 24 Volt battery banks B and C with up to276 Amps of battery charging current. The smalleralternator is also a 24Volt alternator, and it can produce up to 80 Amps of battery charging current to batterybank A. The Polar generator uses a 24 Volt starter that is powered by battery bank B.
