Principal’s Report ~ Milly Stone Zone Cross Country Congratulations to Dural students who showed Respect, Responsibility and Success at Beecroft Zone Cross Country yesterday. Everyone participated and achieved their personal best as it is a very gruelling course. Special congratulations to Olivia M who will be representing Dural at the Sydney North Area Cross Country Carnival next Friday. Good luck. Please read more about the cross country on page 2. Dural Field Events Carnival Please refer to the information in the newsletter on page 5 about the Field Events Carnival next Wednesday. Maintenance work at school At the moment, we are undergoing building maintenance work on some of our buildings, with roofs being replaced and, commencing tomorrow, work will begin on the K-2 toilets which are being totally refurbished. This means that the K-2 toilet block will not be operational for the remainder of this term. The K-2 teachers have alternative plans to ensure that the children are still able to use different toilet blocks in the school. School Band Camp 7-9 June We are very pleased that our annual band camp will go ahead this year. The students are very excited about attending. All the forms need to be returned to the school office as soon as possible as the camp is only a little more than a week away. We are still looking for parent helpers during the camp. If you can help, please contact the office. We are desperately in need of parents to help transport our drum kits, Timpani drums, music stands and percussion instruments to and from the 3-day camp. If you can help in any way, please contact the office and ask to speak to Ms Stone. Wednesday School Assemblies We love to have parent/carers attend our whole school assembly on a Wednesday afternoon, commencing at 2:05pm (even term weeks). Children will remain at school until the end of the school day, as learning is resumed when children return to their classrooms. Thank you for your support in this matter. ZONE PSSA CROSS COUNTRY

Yesterday 40 students represented Dural Public School at the Beecroft Zone PSSA Cross Country Carnival. Conditions were absolutely magnificent for fast cross country action. Fagan Park, once again, turned it on with its immaculate bright green lush grass, sparkly duck filled dams and deciduous trees dropping their golden, reddish-orange leaves.

The serenity was only broken by the occasional bang and the stampeding feet of 100 competitors racing off up the hill to thunderous cheers from the spectators.

Congratulations to Olivia M for finishing 2nd in the 10-year-old girls’ race. This is a marvellous achievement considering there were 21 schools competing. Good luck next Friday Olivia at the Sydney North Area Cross Country Carnival.

Other notable performances yesterday included: Damon T 10th

Lewis W 12th

Lachlan Z 15th

Annise L 16th

Ben B 19th Well done everyone. Mr Justin Field

P&C Update We have a fabulous P&C meeting last Monday

night where we welcomed our new Secretary, Alison

Nieass and our new Treasurer Lorelle Horder. Thank

you for volunteering for these roles.

Canteen refurbishment- we are looking for any

recommendations for companies that our DPS

families know to quote on the refurbishment of our

canteen. Please contact me of you can suggest

someone.

Working Bees will recommence for 2021 with a

new format.

Our first working bee will be on Sunday 18th July

with volunteers needed from Kindergarten, Year 1

and Year 5 families. The focus will be on weeding,

trimming and mulching, so feel free to bring along

your garden shears, gloves, wheelbarrows, blowers

and hedge trimmers. Lunch, snacks and drinks will

be provided by the P&C. Please look out for an

email from your class coordinator to RSVP and

specify any dietary requirements - even if you can

only spare an hour your help will be greatly

appreciated. Kids are welcome to help at the

working bee.

Years 2, 3, 4 and 6 will have their chance to

volunteer on Sunday 17th October for our Working

Bee before our Country Fair - stay tuned for details

closer to this date. We are blessed with amazing

grounds and facilities for our children at DPS,

however maintenance is required to keep our

grounds looking amazing.

Many thanks to all our wonderful helpers.

What an amazing week we have had this week at OOSH!! We learnt what a yarning circle is as it’s Reconciliation Week, with Miss Sarah sitting down with our group of older children.

We also had Teachers Wellbeing week and on Tuesday we could wear our PJ’s to school. Miss Rachel and Miss Sarah even wore their PJ’s.

With the weather getting chilly later in the afternoon now miss Rachel thought it would be a good idea to take the children down to the back play area where they could play in the sun a while longer.
