Last quarter has been quite eventful as far as the insti- tution is concerned. I could feel tremendous improve- ment in institutional activities because of the shift from individualistic Laissez-Faire to transformational leader- ship style. As the captain of the GECBH team, I am proud of the changes and achievements of the institu- tion. First and foremost is long cherished dream of the estab- lishment of the Personal Growth Centre. In the days to come it will act as a game changer for the institution by helping individuals in the professional and personal development. I thank Prof. K. Gopalakrishnan nair and Prof. K. Viswambharan who helped us in conceptualizing and executing the idea. Another remarkable achievement is from the GECBH-TBI in which 4 incu- batees are already in operation within an year and 3 more are waiting. The MoU signed with Goethe- Zentrum helped in the conduct of the workshop on ‘Cradle to Cradle Design’ by Mr. Christian Schueten from Germany and also for German classes for students. I thank Dr. Syed Ibrahim, Director, Goethe Zentrum, Trivandrum for the assistance. Six more organizations are lining up for MoU with GECBH (BOSCH, ADTECH Power, VATSAA Energy, REGEN, SILK, KSSTM). Its going to be handful of projects for all departments. Especially the Movable Bridge and Portable planetarium offer major design challenges. As usual our students have fared exceptionally well in the University exam, with ECE students bagging top 4 ranks out of 5. I congratulate the students, teachers and parents who made this success possible. With new Kerala Technological University coming into existence we are entering into a new era in technical education. GECBH could do our own contribution by live streaming the presentation by Prof. V. Radhakrishnan on Curriculum and syllabus to 154 institutions. The opening of Clean Technology club, SPV Lab, Vegetable garden and medicinal plant garden will go a long way in imbibing sustainability and love for nature in the young minds. The valuable inputs given by Mr. K. P. Moorthy, consultant BOSCH and Prof. Chem Nair, Curtin University is thankfully acknowledged. Jewel in the crown of GECBH is the newly started M.Tech programme in Translational Engineering which is offered in collaboration with Columbia University, University in Montreal and IIT Madras. The course will definitely mould engineers with social commitment and ethical values who can trans- late research ideas to solve practical problems. I wish the TPLC team led by Dr. Suja all success for the novel endeavor. The opening of SFC and Library facilities in the Ladies hostel has helped the inmates in a big way. I take this opportunity to thank Lions Club of Space City who have contributed books to the Library and conducted a Lions Quest programme for the students. With the Accreditation visit round the corner, its time that the departments shift gears to fine tune the documents and facilities for achieving best re- sults. I request one and all in the institution to whole heartedly involve in accreditation related activities. Wish all the stake holders a happy and prosperous Onam.! Dr. B.
