Dear Community,
Welcome back to Term 4. Term 4 is always an extremely busy term with exams for Years 9 to 12, Awards Night, the Year 12 Final Assembly, course confirmation and much more. Therefore, it is important to ensure that parents/guardians and students remain up to date via Compass Newsfeed and regularly check their nominated email address as these are the main methods of communication with families. If you are unsure of either your Compass log in or what email address you have supplied to the College please make contact urgently. It is always distressing when students miss key dates as a result of not being adequately up to date with communication. This is our last weeks with our Year 12 students. This current group of Year 12 students are a wonderful group of young adults who have made an outstanding contribution to the College over the last 6 years. As a group they have been actively involved in all aspects of the College including sport, College productions and contributing the SRC. I would like to particularly thank our 2016 College Captains, Sean Frost and Courtney Brown for their support of the College this year and acknowledge their outstanding leadership. I also wish to recognise the College House Captains, Isabelle Conlan, Lachlan Williams-Dyson, Katie Herft, Tegan Quck, Hayden Thompson, Melanie Pauer, Tristan Davies and Kirra Abrehart who have contributed to their respective Houses over the last 12 months. And finally I wish to thank Paris Hindby for her outstanding work as SRC President. CENTRAL AUSTRALIA TOUR During the term break our Year 10 Central Australia Tour returned after 12 days travelling from Melbourne to Darwin via Central Australia. It was definitely a great adventure and wonderful trip for our Year 10 students to take part in. I wish to commend the students for their mature behaviour and willingness to participate in all aspects of the trip and thank the staff who organised and attended the tour. Thank you to James Taylor who led the tour and to the staff who assisted; Zac Parr, Naomi Van Bremen, Jordan Van Keulen, Allie Gray-Smith, Tracey Lackman, Chris Seabrook, student teachers Natasha Tough and Lauren Sheldrick and first aid Officer Shirley Deane. EXAMS Over the next 6 weeks there will be exams for our Years 10, 11 and 12 students. It is important that students are well prepared for the exams by studying effectively and by keeping healthy, eating well and getting regular sleep. Key Dates: Year 12 students final day at the College will be on Monday 17th October with their Celebration Day on Tuesday 18th October. Year 12 exams commence on Wednesday 26th October. Year 11 students commence their exams on Monday 7th November Year 10 students commence their exams on Wednesday 16th November

Classes go through to Sunday 16th October 2016.
The Masterclasses are operating in the following subject: Psychology, Media, PE, Drama, Legal Studies, Maths Methods, History (French & Russian), Food Technology, HHD, Business Management, Biology and English.
Booking can be made on www.trybooking.com/222581 and the venue is at Lilydale Heights College—Performing Arts Centre, 17 Nelson Road, Lilydale. These sessions are being conducted by experienced VCE teachers, exam assessors and textbook authors and I encourage all Year 12 VCE students to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.
STUDENTS RINGING OR TEXTING PARENTS On occasions, students take it upon themselves to telephone or text their parents/guardian and request that they be picked up due to illness. This is not appropriate and parents/guardians are requested to speak with their children and remind them that in such a situation, the son/daughter needs to report to Sick Bay, where they will be assessed and treated as required. Parents/Guardians will be contacted by College staff if students need to be collected.
PERSONAL GOODS BROUGHT TO THE COLLEGE
ARE AT THE OWNER’S RISK
Personal items brought to the College are not covered by Department of Education or School insurance. The College has no capacity to pay for any loss or damage to any personal property brought to the College. This can include mobile phones, iPads, electronic games, calculators, toys, musical instruments, sporting equipment and cars parked on College premises. Students are discouraged from bringing any unnecessary or particularly valuable items to the College.
STUDENT ILLNESS
Just a reminder that if students are not well they are to report directly to the Sick Bay to be assessed. Parents/Guardians will be contacted if students are to be collected. Your assistance in passing this information on to your child would be greatly appreciated.
