SPOTLIGHT DJ Jon Solomon By KATIE MORGAN The Sun Judging by the small stature of Barbara Johnson, a Princeton res- ident in her 80s, you’d never peg her as the mothe r of Superman. Johnson was in attendance at Princeton Day School’s Harry Rulon-Miller ’51 Invitational ice hockey tournament on Dec. 7 to give out a sportsmanship award named for her son, the late Christopher Reeve. Reeve, an actor and philanthro- pist best known for his portrayal of the Marvel Comics super hero, was Princeton Day School’s first varsity ice hockey goalie in 1967. He graduated from the school in 1970. Katie Alden, the goaltender for the PDS girls’ ice hockey team and one of two reci pients of this year’s Christopher Reeve ’70 Sportsmanship Award, said she feels a special connection to the fa- mous alumnus. “I’ve known he graduated from PDS since I started school here,” Alden, a junior, said. “He was also a goalie like me, so the award real- ly resonated with me.
