Mission Statement The early childhood program at Prince of Peace is committed to providing learning activities that are developmentally appropriate in a challenging, creative, Christian environment. Our program fosters each child in the area of social, emotional, academic and spiritual growth. We believe a child’s play is their work and that they learn by doing. A
child’s discovery is concrete and is based on experiment and discovery
with hands-on materials. Our classrooms are set up with learning
centers and provide opportunity for the children to explore all areas of
their development. A child goes through a sequence of growth within
which they each have their own individual patterns of growth,
personality, and learning style. In our program, each child is
appreciated and accepted at his or her own ability. The children are
given opportunity to learn, grow, and develop in a genuinely
affectionate, Christian environment. We strive to provide a warm,
nurturing, Christ-centered environment in which a child’s faith is
nurtured, self-concepts are enhanced, and independence is encouraged.
We desire that our children know the love God has for them and learn
to interact lovingly with each other. While Prince of Peace teaches
and lives the Christian Faith, families from all faiths are welcome.
Welcome to Prince of Peace Preschool We are so excited you have decided to start this journey with us. This
year promises to be a year of partnership as we work together to guide
your children through their growth and development in all areas of their
lives. This book outlines the scope of the curriculum and the sequence in
which we will be taking your child through it. It has been developed so
that you may follow along as the children are taken through each area.
Our goal is to work together so that we can maximize your child’s
experience connecting school with home through this process. Children
learn what is meaningful to them and understand and remember new
things that relate to the experience and skills they already have. In
addition to the academic foundation they will receive, they can also look
forward to chapel with their 8th grade buddies, daily art projects, cooking,
family events, book mobile and much, much more. Formal assessments
are given to each child in October and again in April and parent
conferences are done twice per year. Individual lesson plans are written,
and followed, for each child through large and small groups as well as
individual instruction time.

Do you know you have an invisible bucket which is filled with all of your good thoughts and feelings? This is a concept that is taught to the children from preschool through 8th grade. There are three important rules that are reinforced daily Rule One: Be KIND– If you have a full bucket and a happy life, the first rule is the most important rule. Rule One is “Be a Bucket Filler.” They are taught by saying or doing something caring or thoughtful, they are adding good thoughts and feelings to someone else’s bucket. This makes them a Bucket Filler and filling buckets feels good! Rule 2: Don’t Dip– Now that they understand what it means to be a Bucket Filler, it is important to teach them what not to do! Every time they say or do something mean, they are dipping in someone else’s bucket and removing the good thoughts and feelings that are in the other per- son’s bucket and that does not feel good! The truth is that we all dip at one time or another and it is important that children understand that and work at making it right. Rule Three: Use Your Lid -The children are taught that even if they are able to practice rule one and two and do it well, there may be times that they need to guard and protect the good thoughts and feelings inside their own bucket but using their lid. Even if they learn to be the best buck- et filler and never dip, but if they don’t learn to use their lid, their own bucket may become empty. Their lid controls how much is taken out!

When the children participate in outdoor play, they
expend energy in a constructive way. They develop their
physical strength, coordination and balance. Children also
develop their imagination and learn to play cooperatively
with other children.
Our language program is based on the Zoo Phonics
multisensory language arts program which is a kinesthetic
multi-modal approach to learn all aspects of language arts.
The principal of Zoo Phonics maximizes understanding,
memory, utilization, and transference to all areas of the
reading, spelling, and writing process in a playful and
concrete manner. In addition to using the Zoo Phonics
program, we use Montessori materials to give each child a
hands-on experience as they master fundamental skills
needed for reading and writing.

Our purpose is to always maintain a Christ-centered environment where children:
• Understand they are loved by God and know Christ as their Savior
• Learn to love the Lord with their heart, soul, mind and strength
• Worship God as the Creator of all things • Learn what it means to pray in their daily lives • Learn Biblical truth, not cultural pressure • Show Christian values through their words and actions by
showing compassion for their peers and those in need in our community, country, and world
Prince of Peace Preschool teaches Bible concepts in an age appropriate
way through daily lessons which have been developed by Hands on
Bible Curriculum/Group. Our approach is to teach as Jesus taught!
Jesus had a knack for connecting eternal truths with everyday symbols
that His audience could touch, hear, and taste. Each lesson is
developed and equipped to lead the children straight to the heart of a
Bible lesson, in a way they'll remember.
Prince of Peace desires to partner with parents to build lifelong
disciples who know God’s love for them.
While Prince of Peace teaches and lives the Christian faith, families
from all faiths are welcome.

We value a working relationship with parents and want them
to be part of their child’s preschool experience. We require
that each two-parent family volunteer 20 hours and each
single-parent family volunteer 14 hours per school year.
Together we will be build the foundation of your child’s
outside relationships and learning experiences. It is
important to us that we do this together. There are many
ways to accomplish these hours and opportunities include:
• Teacher Helper/Art Helper/Playground Supervisor
• Take projects home to prepare for the children
• Class parent (help with planning events for the children)
• Chaperone
• Lunch Time Helper
• Purchase Script to support the school
• Work Days/Facility Care
• Attending Parenting Classes/workshops
These are just some of the opportunities we offer to complete
these hours.
MOPS … Mothers Of Preschoolers. MOPS is an
international organization that builds circles of women
who love each other like family, because raising humans
is beautiful and hard, and having each other to lean on is
life-giving. We want to connect moms to a community of
women, who meet twice a month to laugh, cry and
embrace the journey of being a mom. We build
friendships, hear speakers, discuss inspiring videos, take
a break from little ones, meet with mentor moms, have
devotions, pray together, and enjoy a little craft time
together. We will cheer for each other as we watch how
God is using us to form incredible little lives. These
gatherings are where moms can meet to share their
hopes, fears and insights, in a format that doesn’t neglect
their faith nor their womanhood, their motherhood nor
their purpose, their heart nor their mind. MOPS
International encourages and equips moms of young
children to realize their potential as mothers, women
and leaders, in relationship with Jesus, and in
partnership with the local church.
We are blessed to have a MOPS group here, at Prince of Peace.
Please call/email the preschool office and we can connect you with our MOPS coordinator.
