It is my prayer that this adjustment in time will strengthen our worship attendance, time of fellowship, and Sunday School attendance. When Prince of Peace was on a continuous growth pattern, this was our schedule. Once we hit 180 in worship, we changed our sched- ule to an 8:00am and 10:30am service. This transition moved our attendance back into the 150’s. After some deliberation we moved to our current 10:00am and added 7:00pm Saturday evening worship. Following worship, we are dedicating time for fellowship. The book of Acts tells us that they devoted themselves to teaching and fellowship, breaking of bread and prayer. Fellowship is a key component of any con- gregation. Time for fellowship is designed to allow us to visit with others and get better acquainted. Fellowship is a time to share joys and concerns with each other on a regular ongoing basis. I would hope that you would desire taking some time to visit with members and enjoy one another’s company. Following our time of fellowship, we will con- tinue with our Sunday School hour. We cur- rently are averaging approximately 50% of people in church who are participating in Sun- day School. It is my prayer that this trend will continue to grow with this adjusted schedule. Our Sunday school for the children and the youth group has exceptional leadership that continues to teach God’s precious word. Our adult class has expanded with our expanded classroom. I challenge those who are not cur- rently participating to give it a try. Historically, I also know that fellowship events sometimes occurred at 10:00am when we had a 9:00 service. It was a bit frustrating for Sunday School to be set to the side to have a fellowship activity. Having said that, the fel- lowship component may occasionally replace our Sunday School lesson. The whole pur- pose of this this adjustment in our schedule to is to encourage growth among our members at Prince of Peace. The elders and council pray this will strengthen us and build us as a congregation. We will continue to offer Satur- day service as well for those who elect to worship on Saturday. Buy “stock” to support the National Youth Gathering! - We are under two months away from the

2016 LCMS National Youth Gathering in New Orleans! As you can imagine, it is quite expensive to eat in New Orleans. The Youth Group would like to provide the participants one meal per day to help offset this expense. Can you help? By purchasing various levels of “stock” in our youth, you can help feed our hungry crowd.

Level 1 (“Creole” level); $50: At the Creole level, your

name will be placed on the back of our “stock” t-shirts. You will also receive a post card from us while we are away.

Level 2 (“Cajun” level); $100: At the Cajun level, your

name will be placed on our shirt, you will receive a post card, and you can choose one job or chore

provided by the Youth Group attendees. (The jobs will be displayed on the bulletin board across from the offices.)

Level 3 (“Etouffee” level); $200: At the Etoufee level,

your name will be placed on our shirt, you will receive a post card, you can choose two jobs, and you will be entitled to a free lunch at our National Youth

Gathering Wrap-Up on Sunday, August 7. Forms for participating will be in your church mailbox and extras will be available on the counter. Thank you!

Father’s Day Breakfast June 19—The Prince of

Peace Youth Group will host a Father’s Day breakfast on Sunday, June 19 from 9:00-9:45 a.m. in Luther Hall. Come and enjoy some good food and fellowship with your dad, uncle, or grandpa. Moms (aunts and grandmas, too!), you are most certainly welcome to join in the celebration as the Youth Group honors all our parents. We are thankful for all you do for us!

“BEING AN EFFECTIVE WITNESS FOR THE LORD” BIBLE CLASS

In the 1st letter of Peter we are asked as God’s people to be witnesses for Him. 1 Peter 3:15 says: “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience.” When was the last time you had an opportunity to speak of the hope you have in Jesus to another person? It can be scary to tell others of our hope and we are reluctant to tell other of Jesus. In the four Sundays of August and first Sunday of September our Sunday morning Bible class will study how to be better witnesses for our Lord Jesus. First, we will review what we know to be the truth of God from the Scripture and words of the Apostles’ Creed. After that we will study how we witness to another “with all gentleness and respect.” Later we will pose situations in our Bible class and discuss how we can be the best witness of the hope we have in God’s grace. Questions will be posed such as: “How can a good God allow suffering to come upon good people, even Christians?”; “I don’t believe that God created the world and still sustains it when people still are hungry?”; “My friend (loved one) has terminal cancer, how can I witness to him/her of the love of God and eternity?”’ “Do I have a right to judge another person and can I still be their friend and not offend them?” All this leads up to a conference anyone in the congregation can attend, which will concentrate on how to be a more affective witness of our hope in God’s grace. The conference will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church (Avon) on Sept. 9th and 10th. More information on this conference will be coming at a later date.

“Farewell” lunch for the Rockhills June 26 On Sunday, June 26th we will have a “farewell meal” for the Rockhill family. You are invited to bring a dessert and the church will provide meat, sides, and drinks to complement the meal in Luther Hall. We have been blessed with Vicar Rockhill and his family this past year. We pray the Lord’s richest blessings on their call to serve in full time ministry.

Sunday School Bible Challenge The Sunday School Bible Challenge was a great success! We had 12 children participate. They were challenged with questions from the past 11 weeks worth of lessons! The Bro’s team, consisting of Adam Satter, Logan Johnson, Eliza Rockhill, and Maryn Willoughby finished in third place. The Best Buddy’s team with Nathan Rinehart, Lan-don Johnson, Leighanne Hully, and Mikayla Prater finished in second place. And our first place team, The Winner’s (hmmm..great team name!) with Taylor Otte, Reece Satter, Will Lanam, and Matthew Prater taking home the victory and having their names permanently engraved on our Bible Challenge plaque displayed in the school hallway! Thank you to everyone who helped make this a huge success!!

Labels for Education After 42 years, the Labels for Education program (including Campbell’s Soup Labels) is coming to an end. The last day to turn in Labels for Education product labels will be June 30, 2016. Thank you to those who have participated in the past. The Box Tops program continues, and this provides money directly for our school. Please continue to clip and submit Box Tops that have not expired by placing them in the collection box on the counter. For more information, contact Sharon Raney.
