SCHOOL CLOSURE DAILY LEARNING: Message for Parents Here are your tasks for today. Doing these daily tasks will help the children to keep focused and keep their brains sharp. Mornings tend to be the most productive learning time of the day for children so, setting up a routine from the beginning will hopefully reduce any resistance. If the daily routines and some maths and english tasks are completed in the mornings too, then the lighter topic work could be completed after lunch also freeing up afternoon time for exercise and fun. The daily maths, english and topic activities will be posted on Kingfishers web page. Much of the work uploaded online will be in worksheet format. You will not need to print out worksheets unless you want to. The children can work directly from screen into their books. On returning to school, the teachers will review the work the children have completed and plan for their next steps in learning. MATHS Position & DirectionLearning Intent: To understand turns.

Today we are going to look at turns. Can you remember in which direction a clock hand moves? We call this clockwise. Circle your arms in this direction. Now what about if you circled your hands the other way? We call this anticlockwise.

On your position & direction resource sheet you will see some turns that look like this:

Remember your compass point to help you with turns. Starting at North and turning clockwise like a clock.

Turn to East and you have completed a quarter turn.

From North if you turn to South you have competed a half turn.

From North if you turn to East you have completed a three-quarter

turn.

Finally if you make a complete rotation from North to North you have completed a full turn.

Have a go at practicing these turns using the animal worksheet. Follow the instructions and turn the animals in the direction and amount it asks for. For example:

See if you can complete both worksheets.
