• ThisFiestaisathreedayeventheldeveryAugust.ThepurposeistomotivateandexcitestudentsaboutlearningMath.Theyparticipateinlogicpuzzlecompetitions,mentalmathtournaments,andinviteparentsandpeerstoshow-offwhattheylearneverydayinmathclass.
• StudentsalsocreateexhibitionsthatrelateMathtoothersubjectmatters.TheycombineMathwithHistorybystudyingancientnumbersystems,MathwithSportsintheMathX-GamesandMathandArtinthe“Artgebra”exhibition,tonameafew.Thisinterdisciplinaryapproachcreatesavenuesforstudentstoaccessmathcontentindifferentways.

• Thisyearstudentsfromallgradelevelsparticipatedinthe Fiesta. Parents of first through third grade students wereinvitedtoparticipateinlearninggameswiththeirchildren. Fourth and fifth grade students worked in teamsandearnedpointsbyparticipatingindifferentmathrelatedcompetitions;winnerswereannounced
attheendoftheevent.
• TheFiestadeMatemáticaisjustoneexampleof Pan-AmericanSchoolstudentsusingresearch,
technology and interdisciplinary skills to take charge of their own learning and share their knowledge with
thecommunity.
