The Site is located on the Athy Road, Carlow. On the grounds of St’Dympna'sHospital. The hospital provides 115 beds, offering both acute and long-staycare. Services include out-patient clinics, day care facilities, addictioncounselling, and a community hostel.

The Carpark in total have a capacity of 180 Spaces. There is 3 DisabledParking spaces directly at the Entance of the Building.All the Spaces apply to the Building Regulation and and drawn from theMetric HandbookThe one way System will ease the flow of traffic and make the facilitie safewhen in full opperation

The Underground Parking will be for staff only there is a twoway sytem in opperation. There is Natural Ventilaion as there ina half basment design incorperated. The Slope is 1:6. Therewill be a Barrier/ Fob System in opperation to avoid any visitorsentering the area.

On approch to the Entance of the Primary Healthcare Facility there is spacesfor Mother and Child and three Disabled Spaces.There is a one way System in Opperation here that consists of a roundaboutto aid in turning.

The use of multiple polyamide strips and threegasket barriers achieve a thermal enhancement,which helps to maintain a low U Value rating foryour facade design. Onsite LED Lighting

System DescriptionBiomass is any plant-derived organic material that renews itself over a short period. Biomass energy systemsare based on either the direct or Indirect combustion of fuels derived from those plant sources.

The burner will be placed in the plant room of the basement as indicated by red square. It will be used toprovide hot air to heat the building.

Sizing Burner:· Calculate total energy requirement for space heating needs of building· Calculate quantity of pellets required to meet energy demand (1kg =5Kwh)· Calculate total cost for pellets ( €230 per tonne bulk)· Calculate total volume of pellets used (1m³ pellets = 650kg)· Calculate total volume required for pellet storage (Total volume of pellets used x 3/2)· Calculate total heat demand (1kw heat demand = 0.9m³ of space)

Space heating demand of Building per year = 5000m² x 87w/m²= 435,000 w/m²

435,000 / 5 = 870008.7Tonne x €230 = €2001435,000 /650 = 669.0m³669.0 x 3/2 = 1003.8m³

Benefits· Biomass-fuels can be used to produce energy on a continuous basis (unlike renewable's such as

wind or solar energy)· Biomass can be an economic alternative to fossil fuels· Biomass is a potential source of both heat and electricity· Biomass technology is flexible and scale able, from a single boiler to a power station Limitations· Biomass fuels have a lower energy density compared to fossil fuels· Biomass systems have particular design management and maintenance requirements associatedwith sourcing, transportation and storage· Biomass can be less convenient to operate than mains-supplied fuels such as natural gas· Biomass systems are more management intensive and require expertise in facilities management

Biomass storage considerationsThe on-site biomass storage facility may need to hold considerable volumes of fuel depending on the boilercapacity and rate of use. The main purpose of the store will be to keep the biomass dry and protected from rainand groundwater. Typical storage facilities include bunkers or silos.

Benefits of Natural VentilationThe use of natural ventilation is definitely an advantage with the raising concerns regarding the cost and environmental impact of energy use. Not only does natural ventilation provide ventilation (outdoor air) to ensure safehealthy and comfortable conditions for building occupants without the use of fans, it also provides free cooling without the use of mechanical systems of the toxicity of the fumes in the basement from all the cars a constantand rapid air flow is necessary. The half basement design will allow the air changes to be constant and a not expense.

System DescriptionPermeable Paving will be used in the parking area of the Site, All other footpaths will remain solid Concrete to not cause any hindrance to people wish disability's. During a heavyrainfall our town's sewer systems can get overwhelmed, while the ground gets very little benefit of the natural irrigation. But by using permeable materials the ground can capturewater runoff, absorb it and clean it during the process. By allowing the water to seep into the ground, the direct and surrounding areas will need much less man-produced irrigation.This will save you money and reduce the amount of water used for your everyday irrigation needs.
