SAFETY DATA SHEETS

Provide detailed health & safety information & precautions for handling hazardous substances, including emergency first aid procedures

MANUFACTURERS NAME, ADDRESS, & PHONE NUMBERS

Most of the time it gives the 24 hour emergency information phone number

Others are limited to normal business hours then refereed to another number on call

(cell phone) or CHEMTREC

Description of necessary measures, subdivided by route of exposure

Most important symptoms/effects, acute & delayed

Indication of immediate EMS careSpecial treatments if necessary

pH

Value that represents the acidity or alkalinity of a water solution Pure water has a pH of 7 A pH of value below indicates an acid solution (a pH of 1 is extremely acidic)A pH above 7 indicates an alkaline solution (a pH of 14 is extremely alkaline)Acids and alkalis (bases) are commonly refereed to as corrosive materials

BOILING POINT

Temperature at which a liquid changes its phase to a vapor or gas

The temperature where the pressure of the liquid equals atmospheric pressureExamples

Lead 3164 Deg FXylene 292 Deg FOxygen -297 Deg F

FLAMMABILITY

Flammability or inflammability is the ease with which a substance will ignite, causing fire

or combustionMaterials will ignite at temperatures commonly

encountered are considered flammable, with various specific definitions giving a temperature requirement
