Preview of Crushing Small Stakes Poker Tournaments, Volume 1

Rather than tell you about my Kindle book, Crushing Small Stakes Poker Tournaments, Volume 1, I created this PDF

to let you experience it for yourself.

This PDF contains 5 complete hand examples taken from the book. The book contains 50 hand examples taken from small

stake, fast structured tournaments.

If you want to become a large winner at the game, you must learn to think for yourself. My book is laid out so you can

think about the play you would make before going to the next page, where my actual play is revealed.

You should spend a lot of time thinking about each and every decision in order to come up with your answer, as well as the

reason for your answer, before looking at my answer. If your answer differs from mine, try to figure out why.

My Kindle book, which includes 50 complete hand examples, is available on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BL9B6KC

You can read my Kindle book on your PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, or Android device.

If you would like to personally ask me questions, I host a live webinar each month at my training site, FloatTheTurn.com.

promo code CRUSH. You'll have a full month of access to over 600 poker training videos to help you improve your game.

Hero’s action: Hero calls.

Strategic Concept: Implied Odds

Analysis: The tournament is in the Early Stage. With a hand like AQ, you don’t want to reraise because if you

get 4-bet, you are often in trouble. With a hand like AQ, you don’t want to see the flop with too many people

because someone is likely to flop a better hand than you. If you call and multiple other players call, be prepared

to get away from your hand unless you flop top pair.

Fold

Hero’s action: Hero folds

Strategic Concept: Implied Odds

Analysis: The tournament is in The Early Stage. Facing a raise to 90, Hero is not getting the implied odds

required to call. Hero needs to get odds of at least 10 to 1 and because of Hero’s short stack, he is only getting

about 9 to 1.

Fold

Hero’s action: Hero folds

Strategic Concept: Easy Fold

Analysis: The tournament is in the Middle Stage. A min-raise from early position is either very strong or very weak, and Hero has no read on this opponent. Assuming UTG+1 will call a push, Hero puts UTG+1 on something like 55+, A9s+, KJs+, ATo+ so Hero needs something like 77+, AJs, KQs, AJo+ to push. 66 is a little too weak. Hero is not calling with marginal hands because there are no implied odds and 66 will usually flop poorly. Hero decides to fold in order to maintain fold equity and not risk his entire stack against a likely strong raising range.

Push

Hero’s action: Hero pushes.

Strategic Concept: Playing the Odds

Analysis: The tournament is in The Middle Stage. Hero’s concern is that the SB has a deep stack and he might

call a push with a marginal hand, like Kx. Still, there are already 700 chips in the pot. If Hero had more chips,

like 2800, Hero would almost always check. With this stack size, Hero should push and try to pick up the pot.

Pre-Flop Bets Push

Hero’s action: Hero pushes.

Strategic Concept: Running Over The Table, Pound on Them and Free Rolling

Analysis: The tournament is In The Money. Hero is going to keep pounding away on the medium stacks who are

trying to outlast the shorter stacks in order to make it to the final table. Hero should have considerable fold

equity. If Hero gets called and loses, he will still have considerable tournament equity. Notice that every time

Hero wins the pot preflop, he wins 3600. If he succeeds at stealing a few times in a row, he will freeroll all later

steal attempts.
