Pretest

1. Materials Needed1. Ink Pen—black ink2. 1 blank sheet of 8 x 11 paper

2. Procedure A. Place your identification number at the top of the sheet of paper.

(This number was e-mailed to you after you agreed to participate in this study.

B. One at a time, view the 10 cases. C. Write down the case number you are working on and then write

down your interpretation of the X-rays provided for each case. Use your best judgment of how a radiologist would interpret the X-rays and how you would explain the X-ray findings to another physician. D. Scoring: The test will be scored on a 10 point system for each case.

1. 5 points ---Identification of the orthopedic abnormalities that are determined to be significant by a Board Certified Radiologist. 2. 2.5 points –Proper anatomical description to localize the

abnormality on the specific bone at the specific site on the bone. 3. 2.5 points—Proper descriptive terminology to identify the

characteristics of the abnormality . ie oblique, spiral, displaced, etc. 3. Bonus point—Using an eponym correctly. 4. Negative point—Incorrectly identifying a normal finding as abnormal

E. Use the same procedure for all 10 cases. F . When you are done , please e-mail your answers to Study Staff at
