Deceased 05/2016. . Apparently a few years prior there was an attack on Utapao, and that's
when they sprayed the perimeter with agent orange. Since my husband has passed I have a
lawyer and have written to my congressman who has helped me with the local VA regional office.
We been fighting for five years, my husband died in May 2016 and I received compensation in
February 2017. Then in May my husband
was rated , Which was a joke
because the VA gave him the smallest amount of ratings and then a month before he died the
increase them to 40% . We're now in appeals to increase the ratings but I'm thankful that I receive
compensation due to come back injury monthly. I don't know what more to say, other than to go
to your local Congressman .my only wish was that my husband could be here to have some of the
money we were compensated on which is a small amount but nonetheless something. I will
update probably in five more years when the appeal is over it's going to the veterans bored

My deceased husband, Sidney S. Chancellor, should be added to your spreadsheet. He served with
the 561st EN (Construction) from 01/67 until 08/69. His MOS was 512B0-carpenter, however
most of his duties centered around masonry; building roads, culverts and such.
We didn't meet and marry until 1971 so what I know about his tour of duty is what he had told
me and his family over the 42 years we were married. His base camp was at Camp Raum Chit Chai
in Sakon Nakhon from 1/67 to 11/67 but he was TDY to NKP from 11/67 to 5/68 and was also at
Camp Lightning at Sattahip from 11/68 to 08/69.
He also had an emergency leave due to a death in the family and had to come home (Leeds, AL)
during that time. He told me the plane he was on had a several day layover in Vietnam going back
to Thailand but I haven't been able to prove that since his family is now deceased too.
He filed for service connection for herbicide exposure in March 2013 for type 2 diabetes. He
developed bladder cancer in 2011 and fought that until his death on September 12, 2014. He also
had COPD, emphysema, & sleep apnea. Before he passed he told me to keep fighting it so I have
continued his claim and have filed for D&I based his service connected exposure. There have been
4 denials and it is now pending for the BVA to hear the case.
Since I don't know the names of anyone he served with I have tried unsuccessfully to try to locate
someone who knew him or who was stationed with him in order to try to obtain statements of
job duties, etc. So far though I haven't had any luck.
I have turned it all over to an attorney now so I guess I'll just have to see what happens.
Thank you for your service and for helping the guys who are left.

Question - has anyone run up against data submit deadline and tried to get extension? My claim was put back
into "Gathering of Evidence" stage about 3 weeks ago. No request of data from me or anyone according to my
E-Benefit page. Previously I had a note on what they wanted and a letter received in mail with more detail.
Anyway, I called the VA directly today and asked status. Rep said that they had sent me a letter 3 weeks ago
with request details. Response due in 2 d...ays (27th). I asked for extension so I could put response together
but request still sketchy even from her reading it to me. And she was unable to resend. She said she was
putting a note in my claim file asking for extension until 5/20 but no guarantees. Now my immediate thought is
to submit the VA Form 21-4138 and give a few data points that will be a bit vague to meet the deadline and
generate another request back to me to buy time. I'm heading out of home area during weekend for a little
traveling and to attend the 48th Jolly Green Assoc Reunion in Ft Walton Beach. Reasonable approach? I
was just awarded 20% for Type II Diabetes and Retinopathy for Herbicide Exposure in Thailand. The skin
cancers and hypertension was denied.
My VFW VSO really did a great job with my claim package documentation. Maybe the VA will start helping
all the Thailand Vets.
As a mechanic his duties placed him on the flight line along the perimeter. We have provided
pictures showing the close proximity of his work areas to the perimeter. We have submitted
buddy statements verifying my husband being on and near the perimeter on a daily basis. We
have provided everything the VA has asked for yet it's never enough. We need a copy of the job
description to prove what he did and the areas where he worked. I just don't know where to find
this. I was told to google it, but that wasn't successful. If anyone has any suggestions I would
certainly appreciate it.
Just got denied again for Herbicide Exposure. Can anyone recommend a good lawyer? Tired of
messing with the V.A..

I have been approved for 10% disability for tinnitus on 09 2015, 0% for hearing loss & denied twice for
diabetes mellitus type 2. I am getting ready for round 3. I have now turned my claim over to a law firm in
Michigan. They represent Veterans with disability claims as their primary function. The name of the firm is
"Legal Help for Veterans, PLLC."
Worked on the flight line at Udorn????
The VA has our medical and personnel records and all that is in those records. I sent photos, my
MATS tickets, Supervisors Ratings, etc. and have not heard back from them yet. My claim is only
seven months old. I think it is ludicrous what our Vets are going through to get some sort of help
from the VA and hope that our newly appointed Head will get things organized. I am going to a VA
Clinic and these folks are trying to help but are over worked and under staffed in certain areas. I'll
probably be long gone by the time my claim gets finalized but do hope things get better
I am 10% SC for Tinnitus, denied twice for Type 2 diabetes(going back to the well), denied for
hypertension, denied for knees(both scoped and replacing right one after A1C gets to 7.5).

I need the dates for an "incursion" that happened at Udorn in, I believe, the summer of '68. No Americans
killed but a couple of local nationals were. I have the wire copy that was sent out, but it's lost in the "swamp" of
paper in my home office! I was initially assigned to the Congressionals Section of USARSUPTHAI HQ, but
after three months I was transferred to the new HQ Special
Troops Korat Detachment in the S-1 Section. About the only "Unit" I was assigned to was the 256th Admin

He had a heart attack 1964, age 20. He refused open heart surgery, and was given an honorable
discharge with a 10% disability for his heart. Several years later he developed diabetes type2,
high blood pressure, neuropathy in legs and arms, numerous back and neck problems, heel spurs,
body rash, rosacea on nose, and many small skin cancers on his arms that are removed every year
or two, impotence, and fatigue. He was sent out from his base to build huts and barracks in
various places. He believes they crossed into S. Vietnam, as well as other places in Thailand. In
'63 & '64 there were no street or border identification signs that he saw (but he was riding in the
back of a truck- limited view). I requested morning reports from Archives to see if they showed
where he was sent to for construction. I received a letter stating they could not look up more
than a three month period. My husband doesn't remember when he was sent out, it was random
throughout his time in Korat. He was a good carpenter, but his job title was auto mechanic. He
remembers helicopters spraying nearby some of the places he worked. He said he could feel
overspray hit the back of his neck and his arms. Also, he moved a lot of dead foliage, and even
used some of the bamboo for building material. He believes he was expose to herbicides, and
they are responsible for most if not all of his health issues. Most health problems started in his
late 20's and 30's.
We've submitted claims three times, and turned down each time. Buddy letters might help, but
he was sent to a hospital in San Antonio. He wasn't able to return to his base to get his buddies'
contact information. The only names he remembers are Willy J. Howard from MS, and the last
name of another guy (Youngblood). Both men were in his barracks, and both men are black.
Willie was his best buddy, I've tried finding him through FB and people search sites, no success

disabled from tinnitus. I was then diagnosed with ischemic heart disease, neuropathy, diabetes mellitus,

Order of the Purple Heart as my advocate. I have little hope of it going through, but started with them as they
employ an attorney who supposedly works for free.
I did connect up with Art Phillips, who served an overlapping amount of time with me. If you know of anyone
else serving at my same time, that info would help me tremendously. I didn't see anyone offhand on the
sheet, but I tire easily and can't focus well. I was hoping to get to the reunion but am up for a stem cell
transplant and am trying not to screw it up by getting sick or exposed to colds and germs right at that time.
I do remember not being able to breathe for the first 6 weeks I was there. It felt like something burning in my
lungs. Also, I remember coming out of my barracks one day when they were using a jeep to spray herbicide
along the road in front of the barracks. It was oily and sticky and all the vegetation was gone the next day. It
smelt awful. But of course, I drove that road to the flight line every day, and went out to pull KC- 135 tankers
and B-52s. Realize now, I went into many areas on the near perimeter of the base, including the Pol farm, my
barracks, nco club, uso, KC-!35s, cleaning SPS vehicles, and picking them up from the guard shack, etc.

Weekly supply runs to Korat traveling perimeter rd to pick up supplies. They have already
admitted "herbicide" use in Thailand, so make the connection by starting out at the very
beginning listing AFATN-TL-70-1 as a document written by Dr. Alvin Young, where it explains
commercial herbicides available for use where the same as the military rainbow color codes (color
name = commercial name). Let's put a nail in the coffin. Another idea is put some white spaces
between subject headings. Helps break up the reading.

Good luck Brother, I was SP at Korat and having trouble getting them to recognize my AO
problems.
Still working on 4 items.
Spent a lot of time working in the roundhouse in the center and around antenna field. I was one
of the few people that did not leave until the very end of the close down. I can't find any
verification of AO use around the antenna field, but noticed not much vegetation would grow
there. I am being treated by the VA for type 2 Diabetes, Neuropathy, and high blood pressure. I
have never applied for any compesation because I can't prove it AO was used there.

you were exposed to the Agent Orange herbicide and your military occupation did not put you at

I have been applying for over 12 years. It wasn't until they admitted that they were spraying all
over that the connection hit. I have a doc that I printed from a member on grounds and
landscaping that said he was spraying under the hooch's while I was asleep 3 feet above him. I
just read an article posted on the Military 1 website about VA Secretary David Shulkin is
considering the possibility of eliminating the funds for the Independent Unemployability Program
or shifting the funds to the VA Choice Program. I recently had an attorney tell me that I should
apply through the DAV or other vet organization for my Agent Orange disabilities through this
program, as he would have to charge me to go at the Agent Orange approach and that I could get
my comp based on the disabilities alone through the IU program. I would rather go for the Agent
Orange as I want to have hope that if my daughter or two grandsons have issues after I'm gone,
then they may get some help from the VA.

for Diabetes and Peripheral neuropathy twice and was denied. I was in U-Tapao 1970-71 for 18
months. I worked out of the maintenance building just inside the main gate to the bomb dump.
One of my duties was to clean the perimeter of the bomb dump every day, clean the clong that
went through the bomb dump and supervise the Thais repairing the wood on the bomb trailers. I
also boxed and sent back thousands of nose and side fuse plugs. I have a report from my Sargent
from 1970 that states what I did and the report said that I also did vegetation control and cleaned
the perimeter. Gave them a copy and they still refused to say I was exposed to AO. I am 70 years
old and just went through rotator surgery do to falling because my legs don't work like they used

I believe I was able to receive my benefits so soon is because of a picture I have of me and my platoon out on

In 91 while on active duty I was found to have a bad aortic valve---the Air Force said it wasn't that
bad and let it go. I got out in 92', still had the bad valve---had it in my med records at discharge. In
95' I had a myocardial infraction ( heart attack) paramedics had to use paddles. Was taken to
hospital and was found that the aortic valve had failed. Next morning, open heart surgery to
replace it with a St Jude's Valve. Although the VA did cover everything, I was told that AO wasn't a
factor. As a matter of fact back then nothing was known too much about AO causing heart
problems. I wound up with a 30% comp rate, which I feel today is lacking, because as one gets
older the heart and valve do not get younger.......

I am not award of any ill effects of herbicide exposure. I would like to bring to your attention
another chemical used at most bases in Southeast Asia as in relation to dog handlers only. With
the hot and humid climate in the region, ticks became a frequent visitor to the kennels at all the
bases that had dogs. I saw them so badly infest the kennels that they would literally cover the wall
of the runs. Next step was to set up the bath tub out back and line up the dogs for several nights
worth of dips in the tub. In the tub was a malathion mixture guaranteed to kill any and all ticks. It
is also a known carcenogin today and causes forms of cancer. FYI

.Does anyone know how to contact Capt Steve Ritchie.I have tried to look him up with no success. We need a
couple statements from anyone who worked the same ares's as Ernie did to give more facts for his claim
which we are in the process of getting together. It would be a bonus to have this. call 303-619-0555. My
husband just got denied for herbicide exposure Udorn and UbonThailand Vietnam Era.He has multiple
myeloma cancer. The V.A has made negligent errors on their decision. The review officer placed him in
Vietnam filing for Agent Orange and stated his cancer is not caused by herbicides and it is not service
related. We filed for herbicide exposure and stated many times he was in Thailand. His cancer is on the
presumtative list.Is there something else that can reverse this decision instead of filing for an appeal?I am so
done with this.I will get a lawyer to handle this if nothing can be done otherwise.I am just not believing this

First application 2012. 3 denials. Last appeal 2016. I was told I will talk to a judge sometime late
2018. That is 6 years and the VA denials are in direct conflict of exsisting rules and regulations.
My state senators office just informed me that if you have reached the ripe old age of 75 that
your appeal can be moved up "hopefully somewhere near the top of the list. They are going to
advise the BLV wish me luck!
I filed for the first time in 2001 for type 2 diabetes. My A1C runs about 3-4 since I was diagnosed in august
01.I filed claims for tinnitis-nueropathy and a major neck surgery in 2014. all this from a bad fall off of a Knife
helo on july 3 1974 when during a heavy monsoon I slipped off the exhaust of our TS56 engine.I worked 7p-
7a on nkp and tdy to korat flight lines.when I fell I jammed my lower back somwhat up into my neck. VA says
I should have gone to hosp for a checkup but I didnt and now in 2014 I have my first neck/spine operation.on
oct 17 I have the second which is lower spine lumbar decompression.I have sent copies of all my medical
histories to the VA. make this shorter. I'm denied everytime cause no boots in Nam for PTSD and all my other
claims. I use a good VSO but always denials. I have wrote extra papers about 2 of my children having
moderate to severe Chrohns disease. my youngest son died from complictions from it causing septic shock
death last aug 26 2015.I have proof from an APR that I worked close to north nkp perimeter when we ran up
the Bronco tp engines and we were close to the k9 kennels.defoilants were used between april 10 74 and april
10 75.I have done many things to help the claims along but I fear even though its being reviewed the claims
will be all denied again. any help is appreciated cause I aint ever giving up...... that others may live... fly on

I am asking for any help in getting more information in proving I was exposed. I was at both ends of runway for
arm and dearm of the planes. How can I prove the 500 meter drift? My hooch was within that distance of the
permemiter. I also cut dead weeds and grass at the bomb dump but no record for that. Pretty discouraged
tonight, thanks.Craig Wiser
