Device for Ruling on Freeform Optical Surfaces Project: To Designed, Developed, and Produced a working Device for the Ruling on a Freeform Optical Surface.

o All components excluding air bearing components were machined on Bridgeport machine tool. o Creation of part drawings including all tolerance of components

RESULTS Examined with Scanning Electron Microscope

Utilized Kistler Dynamometer to produce Figure 1 of force desired relative to moment arm application Figure1 Developed as step input of precise weight application resulting in piecewise function determined empirically. 40 Hz was used as cutoff to eliminate frequencies from surrounding walls. Sensitivity of Kistler dynamometer was 1 N/V for testing. Resulting Conclusion: Prove of concept allowing for continuation to Senior Design Project. Displayed ability to make rulings at low force needed for rulings on free form optical surfaces.

Air Powered Engine ___________________________________________________________________________________

Air Powered Engine (Sophomore Design) o Machined air powered engine for competition by reading PTC Creo schematics

Attached Below are the schematics used to create the air engine. o First place for best accuracy and precision of engine with milling and tooling equipment o First place in competition for fastest engine at 7500 rpm for top end and low end of 2.5 rpm o Goal speed at top end: 5000 rpm o Goal Speed at low end: 5 rpm

Mouse Trap Race Car __________________________________________________________________________________ Mouse Trap Race Car (Introduction to Engineering)

o Designed and built Mousetrap powered race car with design constraints o Target distance was 20 ft. Team achieved 19 ft. 10 inches o Developed fully reports of BOM o Produced reports of construction design o Achieved all objects receiving first place
