The CryoCam system consists of three main units:- the cryogenic tank, whose function is to store and keep the fluids in a liquid state

- ARY atmospheric vaporiser to use the cryogenic fluid in a gaseous state

- a control unit for fluid operation and dispensing

The use of top-quality materials and accessories in austenitic stainless steel, copper and aluminium alloys used, guarantees optimum resistance and performance at low temperature rates.

The cryogenic container is a jacketed vessel whose centering supports are designed both as support and to minimize thermal dispersion by conductivity.

The internal tank is lined with a special multi-layer insulation material in order to reduce radiation whereas the high vacuum created in the cavity reduces convection.

The operation of the cryogenic tank is fully automatic and controlled via the control board and the control system, consisting of an economiser valve and a pressurizer valve. Thanks to both devices the calibration and pressure rates are kept constant throughout fluid delivery.

Dispensing: regardless of tank filling and storing pressure, by opening the delivery valve the fluid is conveyed from the intake pipeline to ARY vaporiser for dispensing in gaseous form. The pressurizing system keeps pressure rate constant in the container, whose maximum flow rate depends on vaporiser performance. Thanks to the design solutions adopted to reduce heat dissipation, CryoCam allows keeping products in perfect conditions over a sufficiently long time span, without triggering safety devices.

Safety devices: liquid gas containers are equipped with special devices which include spring safety valves and rupture discs.

The cryogenic fluids stored in the CryoCam can be used both in a liquid and a gaseous state. For use in a liquid state, the liquid dispensing valve must be connected via special low-temperature pipeline, properly insulated to prevent external heat from entering and thus keep the fluid in a liquid state during transfer.

Cryogenic area designs and installs super-insulated lines (Cryogenic Transfer Line - CTL) for standard and/or special applications. For use in a gaseous state, just connect the outlet valve of the vaporiser and open the delivery valve. A low-temperature lock valve (typically set at -28°C) is supplied upon request, to be installed after the vaporiser and before the connection line to utility.

Thanks to their special design and high insulation technology, CTLs are the safest and most effective means to transfer cryogenic fluids.The lines consist of an inner pipe or hose equipped with multi-layer insulation, and an outer pipe or hose with a vacuum cavity. Vacuum ensures heat convection process insulation whereas radiation is prevented by the multi-layer insulation of the inner pipe, supported by spacers having a very low coefficient of thermal conductivity.The lines are manufactured in sections of variable length, in accordance with set standards or customized project specifications, and are supplied with vacuum, ready for assembly by means of bayonet couplings or joints to be welded.All CTL spools are repeatedly tested during the process and finally tested for compliance, using a helium leak detector and a mass spectrometer with an acceptability range of at least 10-9 mbar l/s.

Cryogenics manufactures CTL lines with stiff pipes or flexible hoses, including threaded connection joints to be welded or bayonet couplings, in order to meet any customer requirements. Flexible hoses ensure the utmost freedom in designing system layout, provided that the minimum hose bending radius is complied with in order to prevent damage.

It is necessary to perform a system reset procedure after long periods of system downtime, by slightly opening the valve close to the storing tank and fully opening the valve close to the utility side, in order to start the gas-forming process while cooling and releasing residual humidity.

Should the valve close to the storing tank be fully opened, the cooling process would occur too fast and humidity would not be released, thus causing ice forming and dangerous clogging.

Once cooled the CTL, the fluid valve can now be fully opened, thus releasing all the gas formed during inner pipe cooling. Line cooling time is in direct ratio to length and fast release of the formed gas.

Any utility calibrated holes for proper flow-rate reduction must therefore be by-passed during cooling. The average line cooling time is approximately 20 seconds per linear metre.

CryoBA-type tanks are containers used to store biological materials in cold nitrogen vapour.These tanks have a high-vacuum cavity and multi-layer insulation to reduce dissipation to a minimum.The “narrow opening” solution ensures higher operating temperature stability (up to -190°C) and lower liquid nitrogen consumption.

The containers are equipped with wheels for easier handling and an inner rotating holder to facilitate fitting and removing standard racks for holding vials or bags.The standard control system applied here is CryoBiocAre by Ambra Sistemi. Tanks can be installed individually or in batch to create full cryobanks.

ARY atmospheric vaporiser is used to heat and vaporize cryogenic fluids for use in a gaseous state. The accurate selection of the most suitable model according to the conditions of use depends on a preliminary assessment of the various factors that can affect or jeopardize vaporiser performance under the same conditions: flow rate, pressure and external climate conditions.

The use of different fluids, the presence of humidity or use at different pressure rates from the rated ones and the subsequent variation in the latent heat of vaporisation, may affect the final result. The selection of the proper installation site in a ventilated area is thus essential to keep system and vaporiser performance constant.

ARY atmospheric vaporisers and the special profile of the finned pipe are the result of R&D in thermofluidodynamics in order to ensure perfect product performance in various conditions of use. Air Com can therefore develop both standard and customized products to meet any customers’ requirements with reference to project specifications and conditions of use. The utmost care was taken in the development of special solutions to facilitate product installation.

ARY product range includes finned pipes in aluminium alloy, which can also be connected via a manifold according to model and usage specifications. Inlet and outlet joints were also designed and developed for easier installation, by means of a swivel flange to be welded and an austenitic stainless-steel outlet which can be processed before being supplied, ready to be welded to the existing pipeline.

Cryogenic products are designed, manufactured and tested in compliance with Government Decree no. 93 dated 25/02/2000 (Italian implementation of European Directive no. 97/23/CE “Pressure Equipment Directive”) and must be duly subject to regular inspections pursuant to the current applicable law in the European Community countries where they are installed.
