AAC Engineered Systems has added a new model to its line of Mercury centrifugal disk parts finishing sys- tems. The Mercury 400 will offer all features found on other AAC centrifu- gal disk units-hydraulic power, auto- mated loading, unloading, separating, and other material handling options. The Mercury 400 will also feature AAC’s unique horizontal gap design and the company’s proprietary Abra- site high-chrome alloy disk and spin- ner, which eliminates the need for con- ventional urethane liners. Indianapolis Benchbrite NCN-250, an alkaline noncyanide zinc finish process, and Benchmate ZB-70/ZB-71, an alloy- conversion coating, have been intro- duced by Benchmark Products Inc. Of- fering excellent deposit distribution on steel substrates, the new processes shorten plating time to meet minimum thickness requirements in recessed ar- eas without over-plating high-current density areas. Benchmate ZB-701 ZB-71 contains no silver, making it less expensive to use than conventional silver-based black chromates. The Benchbrite NCN-250 process provides excellent adhesion and ductility to help eliminate rejects and rework. Used with properly prepared surfaces, the new process does not cause delayed blistering. A unique, self-reinforced silicon ni- tride material, Boride SNV, provides higher fracture resistance and wear strength for new abrasive blasting noz- zles that have been introduced by Boride Products. This advanced ce- ramic material combines mechanical and physical properties that are supe- rior to conventional silicon nitride and rival those of tungsten carbide. In ad- dition, the new material is much lighter than tungsten carbide. Nozzles lined with Boride SNV are offered in long venturi designs and wide throat open- ings. The harder impact and larger work pattern obtained from venturi bore nozzles improves productivity by as much as 40% over straight bore designs.
