Area : 0,69 ha Age of the Vines : 50 years old Average annual Production : 5 000 bottles Grape Variety : Pinot Noir Localisation : The main parcel (42 ares) is situated in the Argillières, the name of which gives a clue of the nature of the soil. This parcel continues the Musigny vines in the North at the entrance of the Chambolle comb. This parcel produces a cuvée with an unusual strength and density for a Chambolle village, and in this view it is rather similar to a Premier Cru. Four other small parcels are situated in the following localities : Nazoires, Maladières and Mombies. All these plots lie on the alluvial cone of the comb, their subsoil is therefore very stony, which ensures perfect drainage. Vinification and Ageing : Traditional vinification. The transfer into barrels takes place a few days after de- vatting for an eighteen-month stay. The average proportion of new oak barrels is 50% to 70% depending on the vintage. Only one racking is made at the end of the malolactic fermentation, usually at the end of the winter following the harvest. When the wines are about eighteen months old, that is in April, the blending of the barrels of the same appellation is carried out thanks to a racking in blending vats. We take advantage of this transfer to fine the wines with egg white albumin. The wines are kept "on fining agents" until the end of August, when it's time for bottling. Vintage 2014 Spring was particularly dry and hot, with vegetative growth starting very early, from the end of March. These very favourable conditions lasted until the end of June, bringing about hasty vine flowering during the first week of June, then rapid swelling of the grapes, which reached the stage of fully-formed bunches by 1 st July, some 2 weeks ahead of normal. The months of July and August were much cooler and damper, which slowed vine development. At the end of August, then throughout the month of September, the weather remained dry, hot and sunny, allowing good grape ripening. The harvest started at the domain on 15th September and ended on 1st October in the Hautes-Côtes, in ideal conditions. The weather profile is very close to that of the 2011 vintage and the wines naturally show a lot of similarities: these are wines of intense colour, with well-integrated tannins thanks to complete ripeness and acidities that are mid-range, enhancing roundness on the palate. Aromas are precise and the character of each climat well defined. All things considered, a vintage that is well-balanced, easy to appreciate in its youth, but with nevertheless an ageing potential of some ten years. Press Review : Sarah Marsh, Winter 2015, The Burgundy Briefing N° 17 This is somewhat sumptuous on the attack. Very juicy and aromatic at first and then it tightens and the core is racy...tight and zesty and mineral and the tannins show a little more... there is a finesse and energy at the end. (this has just finished the MLF). Score 16.25 International Wine Challenge 2016 : Fragrant elegant nose with ripe bramble smoky oak. A huge concentration of ripe dark fruit, with elegant integration and a delicious long finish. Wine Spectator, June 2017 : A tight, crisp red, displaying ample generosity as it opens up. Offers ripe cherry, eucalyptus, vegetal and spice flavors. Smoky finish. Best from 2020 through 2033. 89 points Bourgogne Aujourd’hui N°140, Avril 2018 : 14,5 / 20
