Throughout 2009 and 2010 MEGA Vehicles have emerged as a key player in response to the need for environmental solutions in local transport.
Since 2002 MEGA vehicles have consistently developed a versatile and diversified range of eco-friendly vehicles :
Utilising both 100 % Electric and Low CO2 emission diesel engine technology in compact utility vehicles : MEGA Multi-truck quadricycles and MEGA Worker burden carriers.
100 % electric 3 door hatchback vehicles designed for city use : MEGA e-City quadricycles.
To date we have produced over 10,000 MEGA vehicles of which, we have over 2 000 electric variants operating on the roads of Europe and North America.
At MEGA we have always based our development on four guiding principles :
• Knowledge :
AIXAM-MEGA specialises in ultra light vehicle design and manufacturing. And consequently have been the industry leader for over 25 years.
This expertise in developing products which maximise weight and energy efficiency is essential if we are to control and minimise the release of CO2. Our MEGA products are construc-ted utilising the expertise available in our network of high-tech industrial plants, this enables a high degree of quality control during the manufacturing process, from the chassis to the final product.
• A local service :
MEGA is at the heart of the industry. With 600 dealers in Europe and 200 dealers in the United States we are conse-quently very close to our end user customers.
• A wide range of products and flexibility :
At MEGA we understand our customers and their market segments ; this allows us to develop the correct vehicle options for the differing market demands.
Professionals :
Local authorities or private service companies : The MEGA range as been developed specifically to provide solutions for the issues of waste collection, park and garden mainte-nance or between site deliveries.
Industry or secure sites (military bases, power plants, hospitals, universities etc) : we have developed in recent years a comprehensive range of services, which can include on-site maintenance of vehicle fleets, if necessary.
Local trade : Short distance, multi-drop delivery services, or food distribution operations.
Custom applications : The vehicle also lends itself excee-ding well to a vast range of specialist body designs and adaptation’s.
Private Individuals :
Part of the MEGA Multitruck range of vehicles can also be driven without a licence in certain countries. This offers a practical and cheap solution for individuals wishing to have a small vehicle with a high volume body (3 m3 in the van version)
Following its success in London, MEGA e-City is now avai-lable in many other countries including applications for car sharing.
• A high capacity for innovation :
2010 : MEGA innovates again by introducing high-tech lithium batteries for part of its range.
MEGA also offers the best-selling convertible Scouty in its MEGA e-Scouty version - 100 % electric with Lithium batteries as well.
MEGA takes advantage of the excellent versatility of Multi-truck to present a special version for mail distribution.
In essence we are always grateful to our customers for their continued support and we invite you to further discover our advanced design solutions.

13 LEGISLATIONMEGA, international parameters.
www.mega-vehicles.com
EUROPEAN LEGISLATION
Since 1992, the Common Market has become a zone without internal borders in which people and goods can circulate freely. The European Communities Council has therefore set out manufacturing rules applied to every type of vehicle on the market. Quadricycles have thus been defined as follows :
• Light quadricycLes
Quadricycles are vehicles whose mass, when empty, is limited by the regulations to 350 kg* They are fitted with a 4 kW (5.6 hp) engine and have a maximum speed of under 45 km/h. They are similar to mopeds and may be driven with or without a licence according to the legislation in force in each European country.
• heavy quadricycLes
Quadricycles are vehicles whose mass, when empty, is limited by the regulations to 400 kg*for vehicles intended for transporting people, or 550 kg*for the transport of goods, and whose engine develops a maximum power of 15 kW (approx. 20 hp). They are similar to tricycles and motorcycles.
• carriers**The carriers design is subject to compliance with the requirements of the European Directive on machines and the CE mark.
AMERICAN LEGISLATION
Since 2008, MEGA has been distributed in the United States. The MEGA vehicles meet the “Low Speed Vehicles” requirements (FMVSS 500) and particularly “Neighborhood Electric Vehicles” requirements. They can be driven on most 35 mph limited public roads. Their own speed is limited to 25 mph. The utility range is also marketed for closed areas as off-road vehicles.
FRENCH LEGISLATION
• Light quadricycLes
To drive a light quadricycle in France, you must be over 16, and two cases are distinguished depending on the driver’s date of birth :> If the driver was born BEFORE 1 st January 1988, nothing changes : no need for a licence or Road Safety Certificate, he is free to drive.> If the driver was born AFTER 1 st January 1988, he must be over 16 and hold a Road Safety Certificate (light quadricycle) or a licence (motorcycle or car – it does not matter which). The “light quadricycle” option Road Safety Certificate involves a short theory examination and a three-hour practical training session without a final examination.
• heavy quadricycLes
Driving-licence holders are allowed to drive from the age of 16. This corresponds to the following minimum licences : A1, A4, AT, AL, B1 or “road user licence” issued before 01/04/58. All category A, B, C and D licences are recognized as equivalent.
• carriers**Class A Carriers with fixed platform, dump or tank are included in this category. It must meet the following requirements :> The maximum speed is between 10 and 25 km/h.> The payload is greater than 40 % of the permissible maximum laden weight.> The loading area is more than 40 % of the overall ground surface of the vehicle.Off road vehicles do not require a license to drive. In the case of professional use, all safety rules remain applicable to the owner and the Drivers must be in possession of CACES in France.
* Mass of batteries and equipment not included.

CARE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT :
OUR MAJOR CONCERNWith more than 2000 of our electric vehicles already on the roads, and with low emissions ( 77.9 g of CO2 per km) thermal vehicles; Mega is contributing to a better environment for the whole world.
AIXAM believes that the environ-ment has always been a key issue, and has always sought to optimise its vehicle engines, aerodynamics and recycling. The company has been working with KUBOTA for diesel engines and LOMBARDINI for petrol engines to develop a whole new range of engines that are low on fuel consumption and have the best-controlled CO2 emis-sions in their category.
In fact, AIXAM has now broken all records and confirmed its leadership with 37 % less CO2 than the average target of 125 g for private cars set by the European Parliament for 2015.
Aixam, always ahead of the field !
Design also plays an active part in this constant effort to care for the environment. By making its cars as aerodynamic as possible, AIXAM offers every advantage in
a range of vehicles that combine an attractive appearance with care for the environment.
Finally, because preserving nature also means reprocessing what we have produced, AIXAM designs vehicles that are virtually 100 % recyclable !
AIXAM believes that care for the environment is another form of freedom.
A vehicle’s fuel consumption and CO2 emissions depend not only on its energy efficiency but also on driver behaviour and other non-technical factors. You can find information on fuel consumption and CO2 emissions on the ADEME site: ww.ademe.fr
