Minebea acquired full capital and assets of the Swiss technology company Paradox Engineering. After joining Paradox Engineering as shareholder and major strategic partner at the beginning of 2014, Minebea has now moved to complete its investment to capitalize on the Swiss Company’s vision, know-how and technologies and accelerate the success of the Group in the Internet of Things (IoT) and Smart markets. Paradox Engineering is entrusted to shape the Group vision and innovation strategy, and will act as extended R&D center developing cutting edge technologies enabling and transforming Minebea’s

products to be full IoT ready for the full-fledged implementation of its new “Five Arrows” and “Five Arrows for New Products” strategies. The two companies are building a unique and consistent portfolio of IoT urban and industrial wireless sensor networks to address Smart Cities, Smart Buildings, Industrial Smart Sensing and Machine-2-Machine markets worldwide. Customers will therefore take advantage of Paradox Engineering and Minebea leading innovation capabilities and Minebea’s worldwide market presence, reputation and leadership. After completion Paradox Engineering SA will become wholly owned subsidiary of Minebea Co. Ltd. Novazzano, Paradox Engineering acquisita dalla giapponese Minebea Novazzano – La società giapponese Minebea Co. Ltd. (Nikkei: Mnbey), leader nella produzione completa di componenti di alta precisione, acquisisce il capitale e patrimonio della società svizzera di tecnologia Paradox Engineering Sa di Novazzano. All’inizio del 2014 Minebea aveva già una partecipazione rilevante nel capitale di Paradox. Ora la società giapponese ha deciso di completare il suo investimento per capitalizzare la visione della società svizzera, il know-how e tecnologie e accelerare il successo del cosiddetto ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT). Le due società stanno costruendo un portafoglio unico e coerente di IoT per quanto riguarda le reti urbane di sensori wireless e affrontare la cosiddetta trasformazione delle ‘Smart Cities’ (Città intelligenti in tutto il mondo). Si tratta di un cambiamento dell’assetto societario che non dovrebbe prefigurare uno spostamento della sede da Novazzano, precisa un portavoce di Paradox Engineering.

Minebea buys Paradox Engineering to boost smart city offering Japanese company Minebea has acquired the remaining 65 per cent interest in Swiss M2M company Paradox Engineering to make it a wholly-owned subsidiary. Minebea has owned a 35 per cent stake since December 2013. This is part of its goal to boost sales of lighting device-related products and measuring components. Paradox Engineering can provide M2M technologies as well as wireless communications and networking. In coordination and alliance with Paradox Engineering, Minebea is committed to focusing on the IoT as well as the expanding social infrastructure markets surrounding smart cities, smart grids, health and usage monitoring systems, home area networks and industrial wireless smart sensors. Paradox’s network system has been adopted as the core system for the delivery of smart city projects in various countries. In particular, its communications and platform technologies have attracted attention worldwide and can communicate bi-directionally and end to end with a wide variety of data transmission devices through its open standard networking platform, thereby allowing the machines and devices to communicate with each other.

Through the acquisition of the remaining interest in Paradox Engineering to make it a wholly-owned subsidiary, Minebea strives to boost the sales of such components as drivers for wireless street lighting to be used in the smart city projects including Minebea's plan unofficially selected by the Ministry of the Environment of Japan as the financing programme for the JCM (Joint Crediting Mechanism) model project to be implemented in Cambodia as well as the street lighting device-related products and measuring components used in wireless sensor networks for cities and industrial uses.
