Biography

After releasing two EPs, Dawn of Everything in 2006 and Awaken by Hate recorded in Tarmac Studio in 2008, the group toured on Brittany scenes to start forgeing a reputation among the public in this area.

Since the beginnings in 2004, each mem-ber of Under The Abyss has always re-garded music as a means of expressing human emotions.

In subsequent years, Under The Abyss has performed at many venues and festivals such as Motocultor Festival 2010 alongside Dagoba, Koritni or Madball. The growing affluence and reception of the public to the energy developed by the group encouraged them to work on new projects. In 2011, the lineup stabilized and the band grew in confidence and maturity.Under The Abyss ended the writing of the songs to be included on their debut album and decided to enter the studio to record their debut album, A Wavering Path.

The Dome Studio, founded by the Potvin brothers (Lyzanxia, One Way Mirror, Phaze1) is chosen to allow the group to share the energy, power and sincerity that are the main assets of the group.Upon its release as a self-produced album, A Wavering Path quickly became very po-pular and met the expectations of the fans, but also quickly raised the attention of the Internet (reviews, interviews, web radio ...)The album was quickly showcased on the website Deezer which placed it among the top 5 metal discoveries in February 2012. The group then chained concerts in France from this year to promote it.

With the release of its debut album, Under The Abyss has turned a corner, and it all starts now. A Wavering Path is the first step to a long road for the group, which now takes a fresh start with high goals and a growing and absolute determination.

A wavering pathAlbum

Meanwhile, Under The Abyss has already begun to work with Florian Le Guillou from Chromatorium to create the artwork of A Wavering Path. It is directly related to the themes dealt with throughout the album: the choices we all face in life and their impact on the future.The group decided to produce 500 copies and to make it available on legal download sites.Under The Abyss is now working on promoting their album, and is actively seeking new tour dates.

From the summer of 2009, the band started to find its own identity and to define the musical direction it would later take. Thus began a writing process which will extend until March of 2011. It was also at the end of this period that the group welcomed Lucas Joly as its permanent drummer. The studio dates having been set up, the Parisian had little time, but achieved a quick learning of the 10 songs and even brought his own personal touch to it.

Supervised by David Potvin, the recording of the drum tracks began on June 24th, 2011 at the Adjololo Studio in Cande. Three days of inten-sive work will be necessary for its implementation.The group then arrives at Dome Studio, in Angers, on July 11th to begin three weeks of intense recor-ding. After the two guitarists Marc and Esteban recorded the guitars for one week and a half, it's time for Damien to work his bass lines on songs that are beginning to take shape, which provides a glimpse of what the end result would be. The last week will be devoted to vocals recording.

The group will then return to the studio on Sep-tember 7th to work with David on the final mix of the album before the final stage: the mastering.
