President’s Notes March 2020 Well I hope you all let yourself go with your red noses and had some fun freewheeling your creativity since Marybeth gave you license to cut loose. What a fun and inspiring program. Thanks Marybeth for encouraging us to be kids again. I want to welcome all our new members who are bringing their interests and talents to the Guild. We are now 60+ strong and still growing. Judy Reese and Marybeth Anderson are busy working on the guidelines for the Guild’s Community Scholarship in order to get applications out to the schools. Once that is done they will work on the guidelines for the Fiber Art Support Donations. Thanks to Diane Baker, Sue Keyes, Judy Hoch and Cindy Bass for taking charge of Nancy McAninch’s stash for the Stash Sale in June and the Fashion Show and Boutique in October. Along those lines, Jane Templeton still needs volunteers to help her draft the guidelines for the new Members Memorial Scholarship which currently has over $2,000 earmarked for it. If interested chat with Jane at the meeting or email her at [email protected]. If you are interested in volunteering for the Fashion Show and Boutique, be sure and sign up when Diane Baker passes around the sheets at the meeting. Thanks to Karen Robinson and Frank Campbell for serving on the Nominating Committee. The slate of proposed Board Members for 2020-2021 will be presented at the upcoming meeting and the membership will vote on the slate at the May meeting. I hope you have all been working on your “Lemonade” that will be revealed at the May meeting. If you complete the challenge your name goes in the hat to receive a free ticket to the Fashion Show Luncheon and Boutique. Don’t forget to check out the Guild’s web page at www.heartofcoloradofiberartsguild.org and let Mara know your thoughts, comments or suggestions. You can email Mara at [email protected] or catch her at a meeting. I hope to see all of you on March 6th in Salida for our meeting. You don’t want to miss Judy Hoch’s presentation at the upcoming meeting on making buttons to put just the right finishing touch on your fiber creations.
