Presidential

Essentials

LaMissTenn District Key Club Presidents,

I sincerely congratulate you on being elected president of your club.

The position of club president is one of the most important offices of Key Club

International; as president, you are in direct communication with the members

and work hard to have success within your club. Successful clubs lead to a

successful district, and a successful district adds to the overall achievement of Key Club

International.

This year will be fantastic for you all! The district is implementing new systems in order to

better meet your needs. Voltaire’s words hold true to all officers in this organization: “With

great power comes great responsibility.” Challenges will arise this year, but that is why you all have a

board of officers to help you. You and your board can achieve your goals with the help of each and

every member.

I would like to wish you the best of luck for this school year! Time will fly and before you know it,

you will be handing over your gavel to the next president. Enjoy every moment of your term, and

cherish the people you will be serving. This “Presidential Essentials” newsletter will be sent to you all on

the fifth of every month. The newsletter will contain helpful tips for the month and any important

information you need to know. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you ever have any questions,

need guidance, or need help with anything. I am excited to be serving you and working with you this

year!

Yours in Service,

Tabitha Kearns

LaMissTenn District Governor

Here’s the 411

Outstanding Club of the Month

Your club can be the Outstanding Club of the Month! The

outstanding club will be featured in the Governor’s monthly newsletter and on the website. The feature could include an article on a favorite project and pictures. Email Tabitha Kearns

if you would like your club to make the news!

Recruitment

It’s recruitment time! Recruiting new

members can be easy or difficult, depending on how you approach it. Remember that it

is important to recruit freshmen and sophomores-they are the future of your club! These are a few ideas that have

proven to be successful when recruiting:

People, especially teens, love free food! Have pizza or a snack at one of your meetings.

Create a video or slideshow that features your club. Ask members

why they like Key Club, and put their interviews in the video too! With your principal’s permission, you can

play this video on the announcements! You may also want

to consider using one of KCI’s recruitment videos, Key Club is Like... (click to access).

Have each member bring a friend to one of your meetings.

If your school has an open house or freshmen orientation, set up a table with colorful posters, candy, and

pictures to “entice” incoming students to consider joining Key Club.

Executive Assistant

We will be adding a new position to the LaMissTenn District

Board, Executive Assistant. The Executive Assistant will be the director of committees and work closely with the Executive Board. This will be an appointed position this year. More

information as well as an application will be sent to Lieutenant Governors soon! Lieutenant Governors will send information to

clubs.

Divisional Rally

“Rally Season” will

begin next month! Lieutenant Governors

will be sending out registration packets this month. Encourage your

members to attend rally; they won’t regret

it. I cannot wait to meet all of you!

Dues Increase

The House of Delegates

Session at the 2014 International

Convention voted to have a dues increase of $0.50. Therefore, dues

for International will be $7.00 instead of $6.50.

District dues will remain $6.50 for this year.

Online Submission for Monthly Reports

One feature of our new website is online submission for monthly reports. Club

secretaries can now submit monthly reports online. This will make submission easier and

more efficient. Below is the link that directs one to the page where the report can be accessed. It is important that secretaries select

the correct division before completing the report because this determines which Lieutenant

Governor receives the report. Once the report is submitted, it will be sent to your Lieutenant Governor and Hunter Burkhardt, the Secretary-

Treasurer.
