For those looking to brush up on their tennis skills, sign up for lessons with our club pros. Whether in a group lesson, or private lesson, Brian Draxl and Shane Hickson will once again be available to help improve your tennis skills. NCTC will also continue to run a series of fun and competitive tournaments throughout the year. Lastly, I would like to thank all the people that help run our club. NCTC IMPORTANT INFORMATION Adult &  Junior  tennis  lessons  are  available  at  the beginner,  intermediate and advanced  levels. All group  lessons are one hour sessions for 8 weeks and start the week of May 2nd. The second  set of 8 week  lessons will begin  July 11th. Days and times of the various  lessons are available during registration day and on the website. Brian Draxl, Head Pro or Shane  Hickson, Pro will help determine which  lesson groups would be best for you at time of   registration. You must register  in person  on  registration  day  March  26th.  Registration  in       lessons  is  first  come,  first  served.  Limited  spaces  available. Adult  lessons  are $65.00 per  session  and  Junior  lessons  are $50.00 per session. 

MINI TENNIS LESSONS Tennis lessons for children aged 4 to 7 years old (membership is  not  required).  These  lessons  are  designed  specifically  for the little people new to tennis. They will be using lightweight junior  racquets  and mini  nets.  The  emphasis  is  on  learning with  a  smile,  building  self‐esteem  and  developing               co‐ordination skills. A fun way to learn the beginning skills of tennis! Mini tennis lessons are $30.00 for an 8 week session.

JUNIOR TENNIS UPDATE NCTC is proud of all of the programs available for JUNIOR TENNIS players at our club. Below please find specific information for our Junior Players.   Sunday Afternoon Junior Priority Court Time ‐ Sunday afternoons from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm are priority court time for juniors. This is an excellent opportunity for the juniors to work on what they’ve been learning in lessons.   Challenge Matches ‐ Challenge matches may be arranged during junior times; this is a good opportunity to gain match experience, and contributes to the tennis ladder results. Talk to the club Pro Brian Draxl to see if this activity is suitable for you.   Junior Invitational Events – We plan to hold our very popular “Junior Invitational” events for intermediate and advanced players on selected Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons during the summer. This may comprise singles and doubles play in an indi‐vidual or team‐oriented format. Watch for notices in the clubhouse.   Junior Club Tournaments ‐ We plan to run our annual club championship singles tournaments for juniors again this year. Watch the junior board in the clubhouse for the notice of the tournament dates.   InterCounty Teams – Once again we plan to enter teams in the InterCounty Tennis Association League for our top competitive juniors. The Boys team plays Saturday mornings, the Mixed Sunday afternoons, from early May until mid‐July against other clubs from Mississauga to Oshawa. In 2015, our junior Boys A won their league ICTA Championships at the Rexall Centre in September.  

Junior Boys: Play Saturday 10:00 a.m. and practice Friday 4-6 p.m. Junior Mixed: Play Sunday 1:30 p.m. and practice Friday 4-6 p.m.

Monday Matches 7:00 p.m. & 8:30 p.m.  and Wednesday Matches  6:30 p.m.,  8:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.  Congratulations to the 2015 playoff champions, Captain Susan Francis TEAM STRINGERS and to the finalists Captain Richard Erdmann TEAM ACES. Double congratulations to Captain Susan Francis TEAM STRINGERS for a great season as the champions of the regular season.  The adult house league is made up of 6 mixed teams who play scheduled matches beginning in late May until the end of August.  Players must sign up at registration to ensure participation. The players will be divided into three categories representing "A" Advanced and "B" Intermediate‐Advanced who play on Wednesday Night and the "C" intermediate players who play on Monday night.  The main challenge of the league is to have players of matching skill levels competing against each other.   Courts are available 7:00‐11:00 Wednesdays' for the first 3 weeks on May 4, 11 and 18  for informal drop in play and our club pro BRIAN DRAXL will conduct evaluation sessions. These sessions will help determine the level of play that each player will be assigned and provide an opportunity to meet new members.   Players will  be contacted by their team captains after May 18th  to advise of their first matches.  Your individual schedules & rules will be available for pick‐up by commencement of League play Wednesday May 25th and Monday May 30th.  The regular season will end in late August followed by playoffs. And most important, each player will be responsible to obtain replacements for themselves from their own team      rosters. Let’s enjoy a great season of tennis

For intermediate and advanced players interested in competitive tennis with other clubs in and around York Region, we have several levels of InterCounty play. From mid-May to mid-August, team members practice once a week and play matches against other clubs in their division. Tryouts take place in the last week of April. The season culminates in September when the top two teams in each League play off at the Aviva Centre (formally The Rexall Centre).
