Hi Everyone,

Happy New Year to all of you! I pray that we will all have a great year.

Once again, thank you for allowing me to serve as your president for a third term. The next

general meeting of NVAD will be held Saturday, January 11, 2020, from 9:30 a.m. to

12:00 p.m. at NVRC (see page 2). The new officers will be sworn in at the meeting:

Melanie Williams, president; Jamie Berke, vice president; Danielle Thompson-Ochoa,

secretary; Robert Goodwin, treasurer; and three members at large, Heather Kendrick,

Jeanne Lavelle, and Nancy Rarus (see page 6).

There is no need to bring refreshments for this meeting. NVRC gave NVAD a gift card from Wegmans to thank us for

our support this past year. I will use that to provide refreshments this Saturday. Thank you, NVRC!

The minutes from the November 2, 2019, meeting were sent out in December. Please take time to read them before the

meeting and send any suggestions for corrections or changes to Nancy Rarus at nbrarus@gmail.com.

It is time to renew our membership dues for 2020. The membership form is on page 8. Joan Corley, our membership

director, also sent out a reminder email with the membership form. Please come prepared to pay your membership

dues at the meeting this Saturday.

Our Super Bowl party will be held at NVRC on Sunday, February 2, 2020. It begins at 5:00 p.m. and will be a potluck.

That flyer is also in this issue (page 7) and has information about what food items to bring. NVAD will provide a

HoneyBaked ham. Wear your favorite team jersey!

I am pleased to let you all know that NVAD was one of the sponsors for the NVRC Gala on December 14, 2019.

NVAD donated $1,000 to NVRC. This was in response to positive suggestions from several NVAD members. NVRC

has been a real blessing for the Deaf community in Northern Virginia and I am happy to show them our appreciation in

this way.
