Honoring Iowa’s Jewish Veterans This is an ongoing project of the IJHS to identify and recognize the Jewish men and women of Iowa who have served in all branch- es of the U.S. military and Iowa’s National Guard. Now More Than Ever As we celebrate more than 200 years of Jewish life in Iowa, your support of the Iowa Jewish Historical Society can make a very real difference. Without your help and financial support, the stories of Jewish life in Iowa and the documents and artifacts that we preserve could be lost to future generations. Your generosity enables us to continue this important work. This trunk was brought to Des Moines by Holocaust survivors Jacob and Rose Szneler when they immigrated to the U.S. Memories Are Precious: Share Your Family History The Iowa Jewish Historical Society preserves your family and business memorabilia in archival storage for display in our museum and for research so that future generations will know about their roots in the Iowa Jewish community. Major areas of collecting include communal life, personal and family artifacts, business memorabilia and Holocaust memorabilia. Please consider donating items to the IJHS. Preserving Iowa’s Rich Jewish Heritage The mission of the Iowa Jewish Historical Society is to collect, house, catalogue, and preserve the history of the Jewish people of Iowa and to deepen community understanding of Jewish history and culture through educational programming.
