Speech Requirements

• 4-5 minutes in length• Deduction in points if your speech is too

long or not long enough.• Memorization is not required, note cards

may be used.• Power Point presentation is required. A

specific number of slides is not required.• Professional attire is not required, but

remember you are giving a formal speech.

Speech Requirements

• Speech Content– Present briefly on your topic and why you

chose the topic.– Share what you knew about the topic before

you began the research.– Share your findings. Of the 4-5 minute

speech, at least 2 1/2 minutes should be spent presenting your findings.

• Speech characteristics: Be sure you:– Use a clear, public voice– Make eye contact– Don’t slouch– Be confident– DO NOT read the slides!

Presenting Dates

• We will begin our presentations You will get one period in the library to help you in completing your PowerPoint.

• Speeches will be given in reverse alphabetical order. NO Extra credit will be given for those who volunteer to go first. However, if you wish to go first, you are welcome to.
