Rolling out the Red Carpet One day, Swedish artist, Ingela Johnassen, met Saeid Slabbafi at one of his Persian carpet stores in the Arab quarter of Singapore. She was looking for a carpet. He was looking for something more—an experienced designer because he had seen increased demand in modern patterns and wanted to expand his primarilyAsian carpet offerings. With Ingela’s 20-year experience and background in pattern design and fine art, and Saeid’s 25-year career in carpet wholesale and manufacturing, they decided to work together to create Red Carpet SG, which produces high quality, carpets featuringcontemporary designs with natural materials combined with a traditional hand-knotted manufacturing. Together they aim to provide patterns and colours that not only brings out the best of your space, but is also a pleasure to walk on.

The Red Carpet Experience and Vision Red Carpet aims to create bespoke carpets in contemporary design. Handknotted withhigh grade New Zealand wool and silk details. It strives to provide the “red carpet” treatment in customer service from the the carpet design phase through to maintenance.

The designer behind red carpets,

Ingela was born in Sweden and have been fascinated by Asian designs since her father brought home books from his travels. This design love affair still continues. Many of the patterns derive from Asia, but also feature a simplistic Swedish approach. Her aim is to create a fusion of the best of both worlds. Today Ingela lives and worksin Singapore.

Ingela was educated at the American College for the Applied Arts in London and TheNordic Design School. She has created patterns for ceramics, textiles , books, calendars,home ware and furniture. Ingela is also an artist that exhibited in Sweden, France, Australia and Singapore.
