2020 ANNUAL CONFERENCE September 17, 2020 PRESENTER BIOGRAPHIES Sam Aiken Executive Director, Security Risks Price Forbes [email protected] Prior to joining Price Forbes, Sam was the Business Unit Head for JLT Specialty’s Kidnap, Ransom and Extortion Team. In this role, he was responsible for the management of a global, highly specialist security risks broking and advisory team, providing technical knowledge and deep understanding of corporate crisis management and assisting a broad range of corporate and consumer clients with risk transfer solutions for emerging and conventional security perils via indemnity. Now, Sam is focused on client risk advisory and placement of North American risks including services across the high-risk travel, political risk, political violence, terrorism, non-medical evacuation and reputation/crisis management sectors. He also has worked in business, as Director of Risk Management for a US capacity development company, working from Kabul, Afghanistan and prior to that served as an officer in the British Army with the Parachute Regiment. Sam has over fifteen years of experience managing high threat risk in hostile environments across both the commercial and military sectors and holds a degree in Politics, History and International Relations. She started her career at PWC, responsible for tax preparation of tax-exempt organizations. Following her work with PWC, Moojan spent 13 years at Amgen, Inc. and held positions of increasing responsibility mainly within global treasury, which included cash management, capital planning, interest rate and foreign exchange risk management, and corporate insurance. Prior to joining the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Moojan was the Assistant Treasurer for Wesco Aircraft, responsible for M&A treasury integration, cash operations, and debt restructuring. She earned her M.B.A. in Financial Planning in 2009 from California Lutheran University and holds dual Bachelor of Science degrees from George Mason University in Accounting and Management Information Systems/Decision Sciences. Moojan resides in Sammamish with her husband and two children.

Stephen Chiu Director, Global Treasury World Vision International [email protected] Stephen Chiu is the Director of Global Treasury at World Vision International, leading strategic initiatives that enhance treasury, insurance, and risk management across the global development sector. Previously at World Vision, Stephen held roles as Senior Strategic Advisor for Public-Private Partnerships, designing global collaborations between corporations,

governments, and NGOs; and Senior Finance Officer, overseeing financial management of 175 projects in 36 countries. Prior to World Vision, he served in Corporate Strategy at Fannie Mae; Private Client Services at Lehman Brothers; and Management Consulting at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Perot Systems. Stephen received an M.B.A. at U.C. Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and an A.B. from Harvard College. He recently served on the Association for Financial Professionals’ Conference Planning Task Force and Pinnacle Award Committee, and received his CTP designation in 2014.

Ashley Coles Director, Security Risks Price Forbes [email protected] Ashley began his career as a Kidnap and Ransom Underwriter at Hiscox Guernsey focusing on Latin American Family Kidnap and Ransom Insurance. Latterly Ashley specialized in Maritime Piracy programs at Hiscox before joining Jardine Lloyd Thompson in London as a Security Risks broker focusing on Emergency Evacuation and Security Risks in the Asia Pacific region. In 2014, Ashley was stationed in Hong Kong for 5 years where he was

responsible for opening the first dedicated Security Risks desk in Asia. Here his remit was to support clients in challenging environments across a range of insurance solutions including Emergency Evacuation, Kidnap and Ransom, High Risk Personal Accident, Cyber and Recall Risks. Following his return to the UK Ashley joined Price Forbes as a Director in the Security Risks Practice where he assists clients from small and medium enterprises to blue chip Fortune 500 companies in constructing robust Security Risks coverages. His focus remains on Asia and up until recently was stationed in Malaysia however continues to support the business globally. Ashley holds Politics and French degrees from the University of Bath.

Caren Huminski, CPCU, RPLU Vice President, Client Services & Practice Leader, International Aid & Development Organizations AHT Insurance [email protected] Caren Huminski is the Practice Leader for AHT’s International Aid & Development Organization (IADO) Practice as well as a Vice President of Client Services. In her role, Caren designs and implements solutions that promote the best insurance and risk management outcomes for AHT’s IADO

and Nonprofit clients. In doing so, Caren routinely engages in strategic planning and design of US and International insurance programs, developing carrier and partner relationships, negotiating policy placements, review and analysis of policy language, design and implementation of risk management initiatives/programs, claims review and loss control services. Caren joined AHT in 2014 after developing a broad base of insurance experience as a senior underwriter for Management Liability, Errors & Omissions and Kidnap, Ransom & Extortion. Her focus included working with nonprofit, for-profit and publicly-traded companies.

Chris Mandel, RIMS-CRMP SVP & Director Sedgwick Institute [email protected] Christopher E. Mandel is SVP, Strategic Solutions for Sedgwick, Inc. and the Director of the Sedgwick Institute. He also is the founder, President and Managing Consultant of Excellence in Risk Management, LLC, an Adjunct Professor at Florida State and George Mason Universities (GMU), and a member of the CRO Executive Development Program Advisory Council at

GMU. Chris has more than 30 years of leadership positions and accomplishments in large corporate global risk management. He currently holds various board or advisory appointments to various industry related organizations. He was a key leader in the Risk Management Society including president, elected a founding member of Risk Who’s Who in 2008, was named Risk Manager of the Year, and received the Goodell Award for lifetime achievement (2016), RIMS highest honor. He is recognized by his peers as a thought leader in ERM and related disciplines and has had continuously running columns in the trade press since 1996. Chris received his B.S. in Business Management from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and a M.B.A. in Finance from George Mason University. Between these university programs, he was conferred numerous designations including RIMS-CRMP, CPCU, ARME and Certified Trainer in ISO31000. He is a frequent industry speaker and author, contributes to the "Risk Insider" column for Risk & Insurance magazine, and writes in the "Claims Management" Column for IRMI. Gary Nesbit Senior Director of Risk Management Young Life [email protected] Gary Nesbit has been the Senior Director of Risk Management at Young Life since 2015. He is responsible for safety, claims, litigation, and insurance for the various international operations of Young Life. Gary was elected to the RIMS International Board of Directors in 2019. Prior to joining Young Life, he was the Director of Risk Management for Advance Auto Parts, Belk Department Stores, Kohl’s Department Stores, Buffets, Inc., and held various positions at St. Paul Insurance Companies including the Director of Risk

Management Services for National Accounts and National Programs. Gary has previously been the Vice Chair of the Risk & Insurance Society’s (RIMS) International Committee and twice has served as the Chair of the RIMS Conference Programming Committee. Currently he is a member of the ANSI Z15.1 Safe Practices for Motor Vehicle Operations standard. During his career, Gary has earned the following designations: Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter, Certified Safety Professional; Associate in Risk Management; Associate in Claims Management; Associate in Loss Control; and Senior Professional in Human Resources.

Sassan Cyrus Parandeh Treasurer ChildFund International [email protected] Sassan Cyrus Parandeh is the Treasurer of ChildFund International, an international child development organization. During his tenure he volunteered to serve as ChildFund’s Country Director in Kenya where he oversaw the welfare of 1,200,000 children. While there, Sassan used his Treasury expertise to introduce the first ever large-scale institutional use of mobile-money. This technology provided financial services to regions of the

world that were previously “unbanked.” For this, ChildFund won the 2014 Grand Pinnacle Award from the Association for Financial Professionals. Sassan also is a regular contributor to the AFP Exchange Magazine and the Global Treasury blog “gtnews.” He has been published extensively in academic peer reviewed journals such as The Journal of Business Continuity and The Journal of Corporate Treasury Management. He is quoted frequently in the Wall Street Journal and the Economist’s Treasury Perspectives Magazine. In June 2018, he was aired on the BBC’s Storyworks. Sassan is a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) with global experience from Dole Food Company, Litton Industries Inc., The City of Long Beach in California, and Platinum Equity LLC. He has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, and possesses a Master of Public Administration (MPA), as well as a bachelor’s degree in Mathematical Economics from California State University, Long Beach.

Peter Persuitti Managing Director, Nonprofit and Religious Practices Gallagher [email protected] Peter Persuitti is the thought leader of Gallagher’s Global Religious Practice, working internally with hundreds of consultants and brokers in providing specialized financial services (P&C, Alternative Risk Financing, Benefits, Risk Management, ERM, Human Resource Compensation & Consulting, Fiduciary Advising, Online Training program development, Appraisals, Inspections,

Claims Administration including moral misconduct) and externally with the various segments that Gallagher serves – human services, denominations, NGOs, missionaries, affordable housing, cultural institutions, and associations. After pursuing advanced degrees in Classics and teaching and administrating in boarding schools, he moved from the non-profit side to the corporate side advocating for non-profits, working first in reinsurance and now in brokerage. Kathryn Powers Global Treasurer World Vision International [email protected] Kathryn Powers is the Global Treasurer of World Vision International (WVI), a Christian relief, development, and advocacy organization with revenues of $2.7 billion and operations in nearly 100 countries. Kathryn joined WVI in 2006 and has led the organization through the process of globalizing treasury and insurance including the development of services, policies and standards as well as implementing and leveraging technology. Before joining WVI,

Kathryn held numerous treasury positions at AT&T, Lucent Technologies, and EDS. Kathryn holds an MBA from the University of Chicago. Prior to graduate school, Kathryn served in the financial and administrative management of rural “bush” health clinics as well as a medical facility in Blantyre, Malawi.

Nick Robson Global Specialty Head Marsh JLT Specialty [email protected] Nick Robson is the Global Head of Credit Specialties (Trade Credit Insurance, Political Risk & Structured Credit, Surety and Financial Risk Products) for Marsh JLT Specialty. Nick has worked in credit, surety, security and political risk and insurance for nearly 30 years, the last 27 years for JLT / Marsh JLT. He began his career in London, and was based in Asia from 1996-2003, where

he founded JLT’s CS business. Nick moved to NYC in 2018 from where he has led the JLT, and now Marsh JLT, Credit Specialties business. His specialist insurance knowledge covers political, structured credit, trade credit, surety, security risk, contingency and alternative risk solutions. He also has extensive experience of developing strategic plans for key clients. In this capacity, he has worked with, among others, financial institutions, trading companies, industrial and infrastructure groups and public agencies in every region of the world.

Andrew Rowling Vice President – Financial Lines Practice CAC Specialty [email protected] Andrew is a Vice President at CAC Specialty with 14 years of insurance brokerage experience. Andrew began his career the insurance industry at the recommendation of his father who recently retired after 45 years as a property underwriter in the Lloyd’s marketplace. While Andrew spent his first four years in the industry working on Property & Casualty business with

Brown & Brown in Louisiana, the past ten years have been based in Denver exclusively focused on Directors’ & Officers’ Liability, Errors & Omissions, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability, Crime and Kidnap, Ransom & Extortion insurance programs on behalf of his clients. He joined CAC Specialty in September of 2019. Andrew was a Vice President within JLT’s Financial Lines Group from 2017 to 2019 where he was responsible for leading the private/non-profit team’s national practice. Prior to JLT, Andrew spent five years with Lockton (Denver) within their Financial Services division as a team lead. Andrew was born and raised in the suburbs of London but now lives in Littleton, CO with his wife and three children.

Nancy Votava, CTP Treasury Manager University of Notre Dame [email protected] Nancy Votava is the Treasury Manager in the Office of Treasury Services at the University of Notre Dame, a leading undergraduate teaching institution at the forefront in research and scholarship, rooted in its Catholic identity. Notre Dame has a total operating budget of $1.7 billion, including global operations for study abroad programs and global gateways that serve

as launching pads for students and faculty collaboration with other universities, governments, and research centers. Nancy joined Notre Dame in 1998 and has led the organization on implementing strategic initiatives that create efficiencies, save money, improve controls and promote sustainability. Many projects focus on technology solutions and process automation, strengthening of internal controls & oversight, and maximizing cash flow while meeting the needs of the university departments and its customers. She also manages the university’s domestic and international bank relationships and the treasury products and services they provide to the university. She is a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP), and is active with the Association for Financial Professionals (AFP), the Big Ten Treasury Managers Group, Global Development Organization’s Treasurers Roundtable, and the Treasury Institute for Higher Education. Before joining Notre Dame, Nancy was a Finance major in the College of Business Administration at the University of Notre Dame, and held positions in Commercial Lending and Cash Management at 1st Source Bank.

David Wakiaga Director, Operational Risk Mitigation Service United Nations World Food Programme [email protected] David Wakiaga is the Director of Operational Risk Mitigation Services at the United Nations World Food Programme based at its headquarters in Rome. In this role, David oversees the management of the organization’s corporate non-medical insurances and other risk retentions solutions. Prior to this role, David has worked for World Food Programme in a number of country offices and

headquarters mainly in the area of supply chain.
