Dear Friends of Torrington Music,
It is my pleasure to welcome you to an outstanding night of music! The Torrington High School Pops
Concert is quite a unique event and I am confident that the many talents of our students will entertain and
enthuse you this evening. Our Music Department is a hallmark of the tradition of excellence at Torrington
High School and reflective of the countless skills in which we seek to engage our students on a daily basis.
The Pops Concert is a long standing tradition at Torrington High School. Initially developed in 1950 by the
late Mr. David Wheeler, the Concert has provided an opportunity to showcase our students’ vast musical
repertoire for the Torrington community throughout the years. Concert pieces have been selected from a
wide range of musical styles from classical to contemporary, delighting audience members. I am certain
that tonight will be another outstanding performance and continue the annual ritual of an exemplary
musical evening.
The Music program at Torrington High School maintains a special place in the hearts and minds of our
students. Recognized again as a Best Community for Music Education, our music teachers and students are
truly special. Our students derive significant benefits from our music program that transcend instrument
and vocal instruction. Our music students are outstanding leaders, possess a unique ability in collaboration
and have created an immensely supportive, caring, and nurturing community. As great as their music is
(and it is!), our students and teachers are truly the Pride of Torrington.
We are thankful for parental, community and fiscal support that has been provided to our music program.
Our students, teachers, faculty and staff greatly appreciate the opportunity to perform for you this evening.
Enjoy the show!
Sincerely,
Andrew Skarzynski
Principal

To the THS Music Senior Class of 2019.
Before you leave the Music Wing for the last time, stop and take a look around for just one moment.
These rooms have seen you at your worst and at your best, they had watched families created, and families fall apart, they have seen love between two people and one-sided crushes, they have seen your most
joyous days and maybe melancholy ones, they have seen the person when you walked in for the first time
and now have seen the person you are for the last time. And when you turn back and walk the halls for
the very last time, know that the walls are silently weeping and maybe you are too because you both realized that in order to go somewhere in life, you
must have home -Unknown
Best of luck Class of 2019 You will be missed
