GROWING POPULATION1
1ABS expects Australia’s population will increase to 31m-43m by 2056 and to 33.7m-62.2m by 2101.
DWELLING SHORTAGE2

THE PROBLEM WITH WAFFLE PODS
4
LONG BUILD TIME
Waffle pods can float during the pour and slide together, rendering the beam useless. And they take longer to set up.
SLAB FAILURE
With beams to ground on all sides, they break when the g round moves , t r i gge r i ng expensive remedial action.
REACTIVE SOIL ISSUES
Australia is increasingly building on highly reactive soils on which waffle pods are more likely to fail. And it is experiencing more earthquakes, exacerbating slab heave and failure.

THE PROBLEM WITH WAFFLE PODS
5
LIABILITY ISSUES
Media reports of slab heave indicate thousands of homes are suffer ing severe c rack ing , exposing builders, homeowners, s u p p l i e r s , i n s u r e r s a n d governments to lengthy and expensive legal battles.
WASTEFUL
Pods are easily misplaced during set up, requiring additional labour to fix. Estimating volume of the pour is difficult, leading to concrete waste.

HOW KNEWPOD SOLVES PROBLEMS AT A LOWER COST
6
FASTER TO CONSTRUCT
Due to better insulation, the beam and slab cure faster, with all weather placement and pour. Easier to assemble with no movement, services can be laid in the rib beam prior to pour.
STRONGER SLAB
KnewPod creates an affordable suspended floor above ground, permitting ground movement f r o m r e a c t i v e s o i l s a n d earthquakes.
BUILD ANYWHERE
With internat ional patents pending and an ability to be used on highly reactive soils, KnewPod lets you safely build on any soil, anywhere.

7
LESS LABOUR
KnewPod is idiot proof, typically using less concrete and labour than other types of floor.
LESS WASTE
KnewPod allows a continuous pour and topping above ground and a more accurate pod count, mean i ng l e ss was te and expense.
A COST EFFECTIVE SOLUTION

up to
30%saving
Engineering estimates indicate KnewPod can deliver overall savings of up to 30% compared with conventional solutions.
HOW KNEWPOD SOLVES PROBLEMS AT A LOWER COST
HOW KNEWPOD WORKS
8
With beams well above ground level, ground movement does not cause slab failure
1
Structural beam allows laying of services before pour, with a flexible hose or conduit at the exit of the slab. No broken services under the slab.
7
2
Slab top sits on this part of the pod along with structural beam
Topside
Underside
4
Underside voids allow for land rise when reactive soils expand
3
Better insulation means slab cures faster
Cross beam is continuous cast at time of slab pour, integrating with the slab top and supporting foot/pile arrangement, delivering extra strength
65
Ribs stiffen pods when the concrete is poured while their curved shape helps potential land rise to flow into them
Pod drain cutout allows moisture to drain in a liquefaction situation or during mild flooding
8
Support centre foot/pile suspends structural beam and slab above ground. Can either go to ground or be integrated with an in ground pile/pier of concrete, steel or timber.
9
KNEWPOD IN PRACTICE
9
Works with timber and concrete floors
10
Easily lay services and under-floor heating prior to pour
6Pods laid contiguously so pod counts are more accurate
7Floor is suspended above ground. No plastic underlay required. Pod acts as the water resistant membrane and does not transfer moisture to the slab
8
Support centre foot/pile suspends the structural beam and floor slab above ground
2
Without plastic film, slab slippage is eliminated. All weather placement and pour
5
Better insulation means the beam and slab cure faster, saving time and making slab more consistent
4
Fast set up and construction, potentially using less concrete and certainly less labour
1
Strong and stable enough be walked and worked on prior to slab pour
3
Pods butt up against each other plus continuous pour mean concrete usage is easily calculated. Less wastage.
