What is a composite solid?

A composite solid is formed by two or more solids.

Page 2: Presentation1

How is finding the surface area different in a composite solid as compared to a regular solid?

A composite solid has more sides than the regular solid.

Page 3: Presentation1

How is finding the volume of a composite solid different, when one figure is inside the other, rather than connected to the top or bottom?

• When the figure is inside the solid, you add.

• When the figure is outside the solid, you subtract.

Composite Solids.

• Rectangular prism.

• Sphere.

• Cylinder.

• Cube.

• Cone.

Page 5: Presentation1

Surface Area and Volume of a composite solid.

• The surface area of a three- dimensional composite shape is the total area of the surfaces exposed.

• we determine the volumes of the simpler solids of which it is composed, and then perform the necessary additions and subtractions.
