    Where is the EU energy going?

    Energy infrastructure priorities for 2020 and beyond - A Blueprint for an integrated

    European energy network - COM(2010)677: Defines EU priority corridors for the

    transport of electricity, gas and oil. Identifies the energy infrastructure map which will

    be needed to meet our 2020 energy objectives: hydrogen is mentioned 4 times in this

    dossier!

    Energy 2020, A strategy for competitive, sustainable and secure energy -

    COM(2010) 639 : defines energy priorities and action-plan for the next ten years;

    hydrogen is mentioned.

    Smart Cities : DG Energy is coordinating this initiative as a joint effort with DG

    Enterprise and Industry and DG Research, that will select around 30 cities, based on

    their Sustainable Energy Action Plans: selection process is underway.

    Europe 2020 flagships: An Industrial Policy for the Globalisation Era - COM

    (2010)614 and Innovation Union : could provide a stepping stone for

    implementation of FCEVs.

    HyPROFESSIO ALS : Aims to develop training initiatives for technical professionals aiming

    to secure the required mid- and long-term availability of human resources for hydrogen

    technologies

    HyFAC S : Aim to develop and initiate dissemination of training material for Regulators and

    Public Safety Officials

    SHEL : ill demonstrate 10 FC fork lift trucks and associated fuelling infrastructure across 3

    sites in Europe

    HyGuide : ill develop a specific guidance document for LCA of hydrogen and fuel cell

    applications and related training material with courses for practitioners in industry andresearch.

    HyLIF - DEMO : ill conduct a large scale demo of HFC forklifts which enables a following

    deployment and market introduction starting no later than 2013

    EHAs active presence in Brussels makes a difference in key EU dossiers:

    2006: Green paper European strategy for sustainable, competitive and secure energy :

    EHA submitted key amendments that were integrated in final text;

    2007: Regulation to set up the Joint Undertaking for fuels cells and hydrogen (FCH JU):

    EHA secured supportive EU Parliament rapporteur of FCH JU dossier that was

    crucial to get the FCH JU approved;

    200 : EHA secured inclusion of hydrogen in EUs 10% renewable energy in transport

    target in EU Renewable Energy Directive;

    2009: Green Paper on Sustainable ransport for Europe: EHA suggested to include fuel

    cell electric vehicles in electromobility definition: accepted

    2010: EU Energy Strategy 2011 2020 Communication and Energy infrastructure

    priortities also beyond 2020 include reference to hydrogen: EHA suggested text.

    EHA facilitates developments regional and local projects stakeholders

    Since 2008 the EHA is hosting HyRaMP ( he Regions and Municipalities Partnership

    for fuel cells and hydrogen) office in Brussels.

    EHA is a dissemination instrument for FCH JU project results:

    Writing Europes hydrogen history: EHA assets:

    - Monthly updates with extensive EU policy, national and industry updates;

    - EHA database of key past and current EU dossiers relevant to H2 development;

    - EHA database of educational programmes and material in Europe;

    - EHA 5 editions of European hydrogen refuelling infrastructure maps.
