Page 3: Presentation to the Town of Peace River Monday, October 27, 2014.

1985◦ Peace River SPCA was established by several

animal loving people ◦ Saw the increase in homeless and abandoned

animals in the area and recognized the need for a local shelter

◦ No animal shelter in close proximity◦ Felt it was important to promote spaying and

neutering of pets

How it all began...

We have outgrown our current space Building in poor condition – roof repair, new

furnace, mechanical and electrical in dire need of upgrade Increase of animals in the shelter Staff and animal safety Lack of isolation facilities Small Outdoor area New potential revenue – boarding kennels, dog

wash area, public events, off leash area Education and training – for staff, board and

community members

Save and protect more animals Offer new programs to assist with spay/neuter Offer dog training facility Provide off leash area for community and

shelter dogs Offer proper refuge for pocket pets and birds Focus on education – responsible pet care, speakers

Provide more community orientated programs – learning days, volunteer training, adoption events, child day camps

What could we do with a new facility

Page 17: Presentation to the Town of Peace River Monday, October 27, 2014.

Develop a capital campaign Reach out to local municipalities Approach local business Apply for grant dollars Apply for eco friendly building grants (CBIP)
